It’s ultimately whatever the Lakers value most. We have or can facilitate all kinds of pieces whether they want young or vet, expiring or long term, or whether they prefer receiving more salary than they send out or receiving less.
 
the thing I don't get is how little IQ is mentioned as being in the trade. If they keep Rose and have Don and Jalen... how does IQ play?

Just heard Spence Checketts take on the piece by WoJ on RJ and the Knicks. He says that the Jazz never wanted RJ and this was written to make Knick fans believe that the Knicks got the better end of the deal when they do trade for Donny. Interesting take. I lean toward those saying we never wanted RJ as being correct.

I'm not sure why we believe Spence. Tony, Woj, a bunch of NY guys... have all told us the Jazz were asking for RJ. Now were they interested? Probably. If folks take a minute to consider the cap stuff the $30M contract isn't a big deal as the cap rises and since we will have ample space to take on salary dumps. Also salary dumps typically don't happen in an environment where cap is rising.

I think they wanted RJ and a bunch of stuff... now pivot to Grimes and Toppin and bunches of stuff.

There is so much posturing going on and so much being leaked to the media by both sides right now to try to spin things in their favor, it's pretty much impossible to know what's real and what's not at this point.

There's at least a small chance that an extended RJ Barrett has more value to the Jazz, since he'd have 5 years left under contract. Like, it wouldn't shock me if the Jazz wanted RJ Barrett and also wanted him extended. That would give the Jazz 4 years before he can leverage his way out in free agency. Anyway, that would be the "Jazz actually want RJ" theory.

I also can't imagine that Grimes is that big a deal. I see him as being more or less in the same tier as a Grayson Allen. This idea that he's some big commodity has me a bit confused.

Spence Checketts is a ****ing hack lmao. Don’t waste your time listening to that dude.

Woj, Tony and Shams all say we want RJ but Checketts says we don’t so let’s listen to him.
