Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Is there any free agents in 2023 that are buddies with Mitchell or good enough to turn NY around? I dont think RJ and Mitchell make them a good team. They would need another star there. I guess maybe a Lebron signing could be huge, but unlikely. Also I dont know how good Lebron will be wont he be 40 by then? haha. I guess they could go after like Wiggins and another players. Robinson is decent center for them but also doesnt space the floor much. Randle sucks, but maybe he gets hot again from 3 like 2 years ago and helps them with a core of Mitchell, RJ, FA, Randle or other FA, and Robinson. That could be a solid team for a few years in the East.

Here is a dumb question: The Pacers had to waive four players for salary cap purposes in the Ayton offer sheet. Two were former Jazzmen. Can they unwaive them now or are they subject to being claimed by any team? If the Jazz are tanking, these might be four great tank commanders.
We have too many players on this roster right now. We have players to cut. More so after we trade Donovan. Simply no space for end of bench scrubs who will never see the floor.

I'm fine with taking out Quickley or McBride if that gets it done. I'm cool with 6 picks + Obi/Grimes
I just don't understand where the Knicks are going to find minutes for all of these guards. I don't care if it's Grimes or Quickley coming back, the Knicks can choose which they want to send as far as I'm concerned.

Is there any possibility someone like the Thunder swoop in and say "Hey, we will do that package for SGA instead, but make it slighlty cheaper than Don"

I’m fairly certain that NYK wants us to take on Randle or Fournier for salary. My guess is any deal with Grimes and other filler will include one or the other.

yeah i love Grimes game but it's a wings league. enough with obsession over all those guards

If you believe 27 and 29 present the same uncertainty, I have to agree to disagree. Almost everyone in the NYK trade value thread had 29 > 27, and it's because of the greater uncertainty about what that pick may be and the potential for it to be very good. There is definitely uncertainty grows greater the more distant the pick is, pretty simple concept. If you don't believe that, I don't really know what to tell you. And back to the original point, a trade still has to be done. Is a trade possible without 27 and 29? Gets more difficult to do that. I'm not sure about a trade without both, but there's certainly a trade without 29 and I think that's the one that gets done.
My point is they aren’t much different and it’s weird to say they will do everything but not that thing? Why? Because you said so… cool.
