I don't get it either and I'm in complete agreement. Here are picks the Jazz have made when drafting in the Top 10 since Stockton and Malone retired:
2005, #3: Deron Williams. Great pick, even with all the baggage that came later.
2010:, #9 Gordon Hayward: Pretty good pick, no complaints there even though I detest him.
2011, #3: Enes Kanter. Horrible pick. **** him
2014: #5. Dante Exum. Horrible pick. Even without the injuries I couldn't envision him becoming great.
So it's a mixed bag at best. The Jazz got two better players (other than maybe Deron) with the #13 and #27 picks.
