I mean the Knicks haven't had a real all star since Carmello Anthony. Screwing up an opportunity to get one that absolutely fell in their laps is probably the most on-brand Knick thing ever. All of that franchise's base is casuals. The casuals don't care about pick protection or the potential of Grimes or Quickley. They want a headliner. Brunson ain't that.
If presented with this opportunity and they blow it, even if it is because they are being prudent, would be an utter failure. The highest franchise point this millennium was like two weeks of Linsanity, and there have been multiple documentaries.
