Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

They don't.
Cost. He will be expensive and when you have Brunson and Donovan he doesn't feel like a max player on a contender to me.

Also, for all yall who think Donovan value will go way down... thats just not typically the case. Just look at players who have demanded trades in the past.. like Paul George. The hauls come, albeit, perhaps later than teams and fans would hope.

Trust in the haul.

Show me an article or report that says the Knicks want to dump Barrett.

We should entertain strict empiricist philosophy. Barrett has demonstrated, without recourse to inflationary metaphysics, ability to perform analogously to a 3rd option on a championship team. If we acquire a gentleman with such propensities, and if he obtains us at least two unprotected Knicks first round draft picks as auxiliary, (3-4 ideally), then with haste we advance.

He seems to click all the boxes and is a prolific scorer. So why do the Knicks want to dump him?

They don’t but we’re trading a player entering his prime locked in on a 3-year deal potentially 4-year deal averaging 25/5/4.

The best way I can break it down is the odds are so slim that any of the picks we get from the Knicks end up in the top-3 and net us a player like Barrett. We’re talking super low odds.
The inverse is true, too, that the picks we get (and got) for Mitchell and Gobert are unlikely to yield us players of their quality, yet this is the pathway we‘ve committed to.

Again, I reiterate, if the Jazz front office believes Barrett can be a top 3 player on a championship team, then he is worth taking, and since we are also netting at a minimum 2 unprotected first round draft picks in such a scenario, I’m on board.

Everything I here is that this is a generational draft coming up. If we trade Don We could have as many as 5 picks in the first round in this draft. Presumably we’d have a great shot at a top 3 pick. The more picks we have after that the better to get a steal or do some dealing for a good player or another high pick. I have a feeling firsts will be extra valuable this year during and after the season.

We will be getting Minnesota’s and Philadelphia’s 1sts which will be likely late teens at best and late 20’s at worst. The Knicks 2023 1st could be sneaky good next year as I see them as a play-in team. Other than that though or best shot at a top-3 pick us our own pick. We could still get Barrett and the Knicks 2023 1st in the same deal easily.
