Jazz at Dubs Official Game Thread -- 8:30PM MT: NBATV, ROOT

Being disappointing tonight is different than what you said before though, which is that he has been disappointing this year. We've seen him have big games against great teams before. One dud at Golden State doesn't suddenly make his entire season disappointing.

Its a combination of every game hes played this year. Hes had good games, and less than stellar games. Im just calling it like Ive seen it.

I have high expectations for Hay. I know he isnt playing up to his highest potential. Its not that he playing bad, but more than I know he can be an all-star. There are flaws to his game, I dont think hes a legit championship #1, but hes a very good player. Hes had some good moments, and games so far. I just dont think hes playing up to his full potential.

Some times the talent gap is just too much. They have 2 superstars and 2 all stars along with a very competent bench. We have Shelvin Mack, Joe Ingles, Boris Diaw, Trey Lyles, Dante Exum all having to play heavy minutes against them.
This.
The last game when our scrubs hung with them was fools gold

Okay seriously.

Hayward has kicked *** the overwhelming majority of games this season, including against the team with the highest defensive rating in the NBA on Sunday. Are people seriously going to bitch about him and his upcoming contract on every rare occasion that he has a bad game?

Is Memphis a playoff-calibur defense? Hayward kicked their ***.
Did he kick *** against Memphis? What were his numbers that game?

Didn't watch the game but I don't know what people expected with four of our guys missing. The Jazz need everyone healthy to have a chance at beating a team like GS on the road. Hopefully, the Jazz will move on and keep winning so they can avoid GS until the WCF. HA! HA! MY concern is will our injured guys ever be healthy again.

The Hayward discussion is ridiculous. Even all-stars have bad games.

And he was bad in Denver, and against Jimmy Butler, and he's always awful against SAS
He is back to shooting 43% from the field and 34% from three for the season. Right about his career averages.

He played above the mean for a while this season and then came back down to the mean. Could be because of teammates (hill) being out. Will be interesting to see how he does going forward.

You're right. I think our expectations have become extremely high though because we've been winning while hurt and it was shocking to see them dismantle us.

Hayward came out super aggressive but missed all of his shots then kind of lost his mojo. Hood had the ****s. Mack had some good attempts they just didn't go in. The Warriors defense was some of the best I've seen, maybe ever. I'm going to focus on the first 10 minutes of the game where we played them extremely hard. They were up for this game for sure. They know we can be a serious threat. I'm bummed we never got our offense rolling but I still think we can be a threat to beat them if anyone can.

He was so off last night it was weird. Air balls right and maybe left. Shots way too short, way too long. Some of these were on good looks. Having his finger still not completely healed might be more of a problem than it seems. Just because he gets hot doesn't mean his finger is not affecting him. Or maybe he is just his normal self as your stats indicate. Kind of surprised he didn't pick up some fouls though.

One thing that stood out for me was difference in speed. Jazz looked like playing in slow motion compared to Warriors. Maybe it was such a game plan but you will not win titles in today NBA playing at snail pace. We need to run more, pass faster, cut faster, speed up all the game, period.

I think this is mostly accurate. I think Hayward is above "borderline All-Star" or maybe a more accurate term is "borderline all-star in the Western conference". He just doesnt have the speed or insane length most other stars have to truly score at will in the most desolate of situations. I dont think he needs his supporting cast to necessarily play well, but he needs them to at least be a threat to play well.

When Diaw is bricking that many open looks early, Mack and Exum are that ineffective (and detrimental at times), and Hood isn't healthy, it makes it really tough for him to do much against the length of KD. There just isn't another source of consistent playmaking or an effective way to get him easy looks.

Take Curry, Draymond, and Igoudala off the Warriors. Give KD diarrhea that only lets him play 16 minutes in the game. Does a Klay Thompson carry a Warriors team to victory against a fully healthy Jazz team in SLC?
Pretty good posts. Doubt Hayward has the ability to score 60 points in a game no matter who are his teammates though and for me that's what puts Thompson slightly ahead of hayward.

To max or not to max Hayward is quite the conundrum for me right now.

Will be interesting to see how the season plays out when hill is out there with hayward.

They could have a field day with quotes from our forum. Bastardos(them).
