What's new

Jazz @ Clippers October 24th, 8:30 PM Mountain Time

For the Exum homers complaining about DM getting a longer leash, Utah is in an entirely different situation this year. Last year they were trying to keep Haywood, and didn't have the luxury of dealing with the growing pains of someone trying to adjust to the game. This year, they don't have much choice but try and develop ANYBODY who shows a talent for scoring the ball. Had X not been injured, I think we would have seen him being treated similarly to Mitchell this year.

I think the point was made because people still don't acknowldge that Dante did have a short leash last year. Still a sore point for me but Im glad Quin is letting DM play through his mistakes.

All Dante could do in his 2 years of playing was try to catch slower players off guard to get to the rim, then avoid contact with an off-foot layups. i'm not trying to say he was bad, but he just didn't have any kind of offensive arsenal and he isnt nearly as confident as Donovan.

Mitchell has scoring moves he has already shown. He isn't avoiding contact at the rim (he just doesnt know how to draw whistles yet). He can score on all 3 levels. He is a threat to pull-up off the dribble. His repertoire is so much more skilled and diverse than Dante's which is why he has a longer leash. Quin knows this dude can get buckets.

Yeah, I had no idea he had a 7' wingspan or he was that fast. Dude is having a hard time taking people of the dribble right now and they're keeping in front of him, or he's trying those teardrops that aren't working for him. He'll fugure it out. Playing against NBA starters is clearly a rookie process for him.

Either you're blind or I'm imagining things. For the most part he has been getting in the paint, at will. Even tonight against an All-NBA defensive PG, he was more often than not getting into the paint. Take off your goggles, Archie.

Lol. This guy was so bugged by my posts he sent me a PM. On a scale of 1-10 guys, how much does it hurt your feelings I've pointed out how Mitchell has played in 4 games? Please, quantify. I just got a notification for Cappy Smurf disliking 12 of my posts and it made my day.
Archie Moses: + 1
Sensitive Mitchell fans who deny reality and and translate my assessment of Mitchell through 4 games means I think he's going to be terrible: 0

And he does it with a less than ideal handle. He hasn't looked slow but the size of the dudes in the paint has clearly been shocking to him. He's had some attempts where it was awful and some where he just needs to make small adjustments and it will be buckets.

A floater would also be nice... if he learns to hold off the defender and hesitate like Rodney and JJ it will also help.

I have full faith in him and our development staff.

Last night during the game he took a floater that just missed and the Jazz announce team said that a floater is something the coaches have Mitchell working on.

His has certainly looked awkward this year. It's a tough shot to master and even tougher to stop so I'm glad the Jazz are working on that with him.

Yup... a Knuckle Ball floater according to Boler.

Ugh what a crappy game. I wasted some money on that, but really it is still fun to be at the game live.

Remember all the noise about Mitchell from that annoying poster who's name I can't remember?

Here's a chart showing DM to be the 2nd best rookie defensively so far and about middle of the pack offensively, regardless of his shooting. Yep, definitely time to declare him to be Tyreke Evans.

Either you're looking at that chart wrong or I am. To me it looks like the graphic shows that he's currently the 2nd worst rookie offensively, and middle of the pack defensively.
