Jazz Draft Jared Butler

After all the buzzer beaters, all the momentum changers, all the ice breakers when nobody else can throw it in the ocean, I’ll never understand the irrational disdain for Bogey! And he’s the only guy on our squad with a decent post up game.
I agree and he is another guy who can make tough shots. I think it might have to do with his early struggles after surgery but when DM went down he was our first scoring option.

Honestly, if I was Butler I would be coming into the league with a serious chip on my shoulder. He should have gone in the teens and went #40. I would be wanting to prove to all the teams that passed on him they missed out. I hope that motivates him to become the biggest steal in the draft and maybe more.

And that he’s generally a poor defensive player, isn’t a great passer, and is at the age he could fall of a cliff at any point.

To be clear, I’m pro-Bogey, but scoring is not what bounced the Jazz from the playoffs and time isn’t on our side.

Alabama is one of the least racist places that I have lived in and I have lived all over the country and the world.

Arkansas on the other hand is blatantly racist and they seem to be proud if it and boast openly about it. I would never go back there.

People just like to make fun of other places to make them feel better about their own. They think other places are bad because that's all they've been told their whole life.

Calling a place a ******** is about as bad as racism.

Off topic, but taking the kiddos go-karting in Foley today! Ha!

Absolutely! With all the accolades and MVP on a Championship team to be picked at #40 is just incomprehensible! I was just thinking that if Conley or Mitchell go down for an extended stretch like last season, this kid could be a ROY candidate. I would imagine that would be some kind of record for a ROY to be picked so low in the draft.

I remember when Trump referred to some non-white third world countries with that nomenclature and the backlash he received for it.

Bleacher report compared Butler to Malcolm Brogdon and based on the eye test that's an apt comparison in my mind. He's a big bodied combo guard with toughness and skills which with our smallish starting backcourt is exactly what this team needs IMO. This guy is a legitimate 6'3" and built solid. And skilled, and plays with intensity and composure, at #40 are you kidding me?

I mean I get it, some are disappointed that we didn't draft an athletic forward with size and strength but those guys were off the table at 40 and I think we can be fairly confident that we got the best player available. I do hope Snyder is willing to do some twin tower stuff with Doke in certain situations, because we look pretty puny against teams like the Lakers and the Bucks. Either way, Snyder needs to find an answer for Bully Ball and Small Ball.

I think Conley is the more expendable one (if he even signs with us). Clarkson is on a great contract and he gives our bench such a needed scoring punch.
Agreed, I love Clarkson and he’s a big reason the jazz got off to a big start last year. Plushness top of that, he’s one hell of a locker room guy as in good, and has maybe the best most team friendly contract in the nba that isn’t on a rookie deal.

The only problem with Conley is at best you are probably only getting tax relief in return on someone’s throw away player on a one year deal, unless some team gets desperate, but trading him would feel like throwing away any hope af a championship.
