What's new

Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Booker shot 24% on his 3's last season. He really CAN'T play alongside anyone the Jazz put in at the 5. I know we love Trevor for the volleyball shot, his hustle and his infamous quote about Enes, but he'd be a very poor way for Lindsey to spend his money. TBH, Jerebko IS a better 4.

Booker is 6'8" btw, I don't know how that is a little more size.

In the regular season yes, but he can defend Melo and other big wings... Jonas got in and got smoked.

He can play 8-10 a night and provide some value in the regular season. Jonas is the better regular season player though.

Booker for vet min would be a great guy at the end of the bench. He is an incredible locker room guy and he brings a ton of energy on the court. He will help us and is well worth signing.

I think a Parker S&T falls under the BYC provision. If so, a trade gets very complicated. Whatever a player in that category signs for is counted 100% in incoming salary, but only 50% for the team that trades him.
Wouldn’t adding more pieces to each side make it less complicated, then, by diminishing the impact of the variable portion of a S&T contract?

Small ball 5. Would love to have another team put in a small ball 5 that grabs 5 rebounds per 36 and just let Booker clean the glass.

You can't play Udoh because of his offensive liabilities. I'm not sure how he scored in Europe. He has terrible hands and can't hit anything outside of 5".

Only way to play Udoh is with a good offensive stretch four. And I’m not sure if you meant 5’ but 5” is equally true.

Surprised there's been no news on Exum/Favors or about guaranteeing Thabo. The Booker news makes me think something is in the works S&T wise or the Favs meeting did not go well.

I don’t know that it means anything.

So everyone would be happy bringing back some nostalgia guy who can’t contribute at all, giving the guy who can’t play in the same lineup with our best player against elite teams in the playoffs starter money, and overpaying all the non guaranteed guys for continuity sake?

Don’t even want to try new things that could potentially take us to the next tier as a team? Just run it back? Guess it’s nice that the fan base puts no pressure on the front office to take any sort of risk.

The Favors meeting hasn’t even happened yet.

In regards to Exum, I don’t have any idea when the meeting is/was. Sometimes I hate the silence of the Jazz.

There’s also no good basketball reason to sign Booker. None. Love the guy, but none.

Amen. It’s a dumb idea and I don’t know why so many fans are so ecstatic on Twitter about this possibility.
