I watched Mavs' last few games and these guys are playing as hard as anyone in the league.
Around his time of the year when NBA players don't give much ****, Mavs can win some games and they actually are ala PHI. Coming into this game I'd not be suprised if got the W against us.

They indeed fought hard till the end and it's kind of impressive we managed to beat them.

5Ws in a row now, let's see how our players will handle it. Normally when on a roll and particularly taking on weaker sides we tend to relax much. Hopefully we'll cure this mental struggle along the way, extend our winning streak vs IND, OKC, DEN, LAL and pound some of these teams while doing it.

Yes it was bad but refs hardly ever call lane violations. I see ones as bad almost every game. It used to bother me but now I've stopped caring.
 
Haywards rebounds and passing were huge. His clutch three to take the lead late in regulation saved our ***. Hes on the all star team for sure.

Gobert had a monster game too, and will get a serious look.

As I said in another thread after the Cavs game I predicted the Jazz would pull off 5 straight and both Rudy and Hayward would be Allstars.

Yeah, in the lockout season. It was a triple-overtime game, and the only time Al got 20 rebounds or more. It's strange that I don't remember that game because I saw just about every Jazz game that year. I was shocked to find out Malone never pulled down 25 rebounds. Karl's career high was 23. Millsap actually had a 24-rebound game off the bench. Boozer had four 20-20 games, but never pulled down 25 rebounds.

The only other player to pull down 25 rebounds for the Jazz since 1983 is of course, the only man ahead of Rudy for the claim of the best Jazz centre of all time.
 
End of the third quarter Hayward had 2 of the most impressive offensive rebounds I have ever seen from him (the second one was a putback bucket) that were crucial.
Rudy and Gordon carried the jazz once again.

Rudy needs to be more aware and his team mates need to communicate with him better as for letting him know that they have the rebound. It really isn't a difficult thing especially for high quality nba players.

Note - I'm not saying Rudy should stop going for rebounds, he just needs to stop stealing them from team mates (early in games) when it is clear that they have them under control. Im probably picking the worst time to bring this up given Rudy was huge on the boards down the stretch tonight but watch tomorrow at the beginning of the game and guaranteed their will be a couple of instances where he grabs the board when he could easily leave it for a team mate.

It isn't a big thing but if we want to push the ball more then in order for that to happen our guards need to get more rebounds and that can only happen if Rudy isn't taking them all.

Not realistic. Rebounders go and get rebounds and to hell with anybody else who wants it. I'd rather him secure the ball, and kick it to a running guard than not go after every rebound. Not going after it WILL lead to the other team getting some easy points or 2nd chances because of your strategy.

I really dont get what he is saying either. He is saying when rebounds are uncontested then Rudy should let guards get it so they can push. But if the rebounds are uncontested that probably means the other team has already gotten back on defense and our guards, who have trouble pushing the ball effectively even when they have a numbers advantage or even numbers, probably can't push effectively against a team not even going for offensive rebounds. So we would be asking Gobert to tune back his rebounding thirst to maybe get into the offense 1 or 2 seconds sooner, doesn't seem worth it.

I'd rather just have him and the Jazz working on throwing outlet passes.

Exactly. I don't know how that is so hard to understand. A rebounder should not worry about anybody around him. Get the ball.

Not only that, but I think it's pretty clear Gobert cares about stats. Not in an entirely selfish way, but he wants to be considered one of the best centers of all time and to do that you have to put numbers up. He wants to make the All-Star game too, he openly says it when asked. You kind of have to feed him because it's not like we are calling plays for him.
