Maybe I’m a hater, but Conley’s absence is having very little impact on how I view this series. As long as he is replaced by a more capable perimeter defender, then the impact could be fairly small.
Yeah I’m not saying it doesn’t hurt at all. But I’d rather Joe use more possessions anyway, so he steps up his usage rate. Our success this year is correlated with Joe using more possessions and Mike using less as a primary ball handler. Then we play Oni to help with perimeter defense. It hurts from a depth perspective. We'll now have to play Mudiay 20+ minutes. Maybe even NWG and JWF. Playoff teams usually only go 7-8 players deep.
Kinda the story of Mountain Mike... everything lined up on paper and didn’t work out... planned the baby for August which should be perfect and turns out it was the worst possible time. Sigh.I can't fault Conley for that. This is a decision you make 100 out of 100 times... but it's still super frustrating for the fans....
From our acquisitions in last off-season we will get the following contributions for the playoffs:
1. Bogdanovic - 0
2. Conley - 0 for the first 3 games
3. Ed Davis - 0
4. Jeff Green - 0
5. Mudiay ... hopefully not negative contribution
I think another underrated way it could hurt us is that it gives Denver a more confident mentality. Maybe even makes our team lose a bit of confidence. It hurts from a depth perspective. We'll now have to play Mudiay 20+ minutes. Maybe even NWG and JWF. Playoff teams usually only go 7-8 players deep.
Remember the Boom Bitches playoff series with the Nuggs the Jazz won. Memo ruptured his achillies in that one so is is always possible. No ed Davis or jwf this round just got an update
