Jazz Offseason Plan

You shouldn't trade a first in a solid draft for a future first unless you are flush with young players and picks. Getting one or two young players each year is ideal so that you can evaluate them. It is lazy GM work to punt it into the future.

I will say though... I want to see Udoka... if he's not ready though we'd need a backup. Maybe we can have them take turns and manage Favs a bit. If he shows he's playable then he becomes an asset or Favs can be moved with some confidence.
We going to see what is what in SL this year. Udoka/Hughes need to make an impression.

According to Austin Horton’s source (as discussed on 1280 this morning), the Ingles/Bogey rumors are coming from teams that have interest in Ingles/Bogey (i.e., it’s not the Jazz trying to move anyone) and also, the Jazz are looking to trade the 30th pick for a pick in a future draft.
This sounds like damage control to me.

On the one hand, I don't totally buy that the Jazz are TRYING to move Ingles/Bogey; on the other, I doubt the smoke is just from other teams interested in them. If there's a difference to split between these positions, that's where I'd put my view (as in the Jazz are probably willing to have discussions if a deal made sense, but they're not likely to go all out to move on from one or both if something doesn't make sense).

I wouldn't hate it if the Jazz traded for a future first with the 30th. I tend to think the Favors thing is likelier however (maybe it could come attached with a future 2nd?)

True... I do worry that SL is not the best place to see what some guys have. Udoka should at least be able to show defense, offensive rebounding, and finishing. Doubt anyone sets him up for lobs and ****... it can get really rough. Hopefully they find some competent PGs to help during SL.

He'll have Forrest on the roster.

Is this even a solid draft? Have to say that I’m really not impressed by the guys at #30. Especially when compared to previous years.

I can only parrot what other expert draft guys have said. Basically there are more than 30 first round grades in this draft. Last year's draft was similar iirc, but I think this class would be considered better (definitely at the top... but overall too).
