Jazz Pursuing Yuta Watanabe

I think I’ve reached peak anti-Boler. Hard to imagine it getting worse. The low point happened this year when he says “Tee” 4,000 times a game (as he addresses Thurl, by nickname, over and over again, needlessly).

The new format goes like this: Boler cracks out some inane comment, and then sticks Tee on the end of it (as if it wasn’t clear who he was taking to). Then, the first thing out of Thurl’s mouth is an agreement with that inane comment, as if by contractual obligation. It’s usually, “That’s right....”

This is brain-melting; over and over and over again.
I like Boler.

Also, try to count how many times he says "I tell ya" during a broadcast.

Holly seems infinitely more aware and on-her-toes than Boler, though.
Yeah she is more knowledgeable. To be fair, this isn't hard. My wife is more knowledgeable than Boler and she sleeps through games she "watches" with me.

This year I've learned that a "quick hitter" can mean:

(a) when a player shoots early in the shot clock
(b) when a player shoots late in the shot clock
(c) when a player passes ahead in transition

and the list is growing.

It's a very precise and technical basketball term.

It means something else in my house.

YESSS I LOVE QUICK HITTER

I think most of us here know this but I don't know how well the general Jazz fan public knows that Holly's main gig is with ESPN and traveling to different games, usually college games essentially doing what she does for the Jazz.

So I try to cut some slack knowing she's had to prepare for multiple other games and that means two teams per game she has to prepare for before coming back to do the Jazz broadcast. That is why often times she know more about other teams in the NBA then the Jazz cause she has had to cover their games at one time or another.

I think if she was able to mostly focus on doing the Jazz games she would be able to do more and people complaining wouldn't have as much to hate on her about.

Back to the point of this thread for Yuta Watanabe. Another reason it would be fitting is Wat Misaka the first player of Japanese descent to play in the NBA, he is from Utah and played college ball at Utah.

And the first Japanese-born player in the NBA was Yuta Tabuse, who played at BYU Hawaii. Another homeytennis miracle.

Do we have any LGBTQIA+ folks on the board for reals?
I don't think there is anyone on the board who is "out" honestly. KatieMCR was, but she hasn't spent any real time here in many many years.
