I was just asking for one example of a dude that lost some fluff and it was bad. I mean Julius Randle is definitely a bully ball guy and he slim’d up over a couple offseason and it seems to have benefited him.
It may not matter in the end we agree… just thought it would be a fun exercise to name one or two guys that should have stayed fat.
Well, I never said it was bad. So I don’t know what you want for me. Argue for something I’ve directly said the opposite of multiple times?
I don’t really see the value in the exercise to begin with, honestly. Many players lose/gain (mostly gain) weight during their developmental years and it’s impossible to attribute that to their change in weight or just normal development. Players usually lose weight early in their careers when they would be developing anyways, so there’s just a bunch of confounding variables at play.
There have been many players who lost the weight but it didn’t do much for their careers (or maybe it did, who know). Losing weight didn’t make Luka Garza an NBA player, or Jah, or McGary. These are just a few off the top of my head. Did it make them better? Idk, but I think Lofton is the same where his weight is not going to determine if he’s an NBA player or not.
Again, that’s not to say it was bad. But we make a mountain out of a molehill with this stuff. It dominates the conversation around Lofton but it is not going to be what makes or breaks him as a player.
