What's new

Jazz Starters: Harris, Hayward, Bell, Favors, Jefferson

Also, with Harris, Bell and Jefferson starting, the halfcourt offense could look really bad. They probably won't be much better in transition. The bench is going to have to come up big if the Jazz have any hope of winning tonight.

Talk out your *** much?

No, he's right. Go read @lockedonsports tweets.

All I can say is spare me, Paul Millsap. Its not like this is a super personal demotion. Or even a demotion at all. Wish he saw it differently.

People are making too much of Millsap's comments. Nothing is wrong for him wanting to start and being disappointed he isn't. Hopefully he channels that into his performance proving he is a starting caliber player. Hopefully all the big men challenge each other and push their games to new levels.

Against the Lakers, I like this lineup.

But I want to see Bell play only 8 minutes in the 1st and 3rd. CJ as the scorer on the second unit (with Sap) is the right move. Halves and games should be closed out by Harris/CJ/Hayward/Sap/Al (with Favors subbing in for either depending on matchups.)

I'm not worried that he won't be motivated or anything.. this will just add more motivation. He is going to play hard regardless. But he could request a trade if he believes that he is not getting a fair opportunity.

He's disappointed, but is going to do what the coaches ask of him and work/play hard. I'd be a lot more worried if he didn't care at all.

I think it is great Milsap is mad..... KEEP IT PRIVATE. DO NOT GO TO REPORTERS BEFORE GAME 1.

Moron.

PLUS, I still am equally eager to see who is on the floor at the end if it is close.

We need to build team unity, not this junk before Game 1 . Grow up Paul.

Of course Sap is pissed. But I would want him to be pissed. It doesn't really matter since I suspect he'll close games and halves with Al. Personally, I'm most interested to see him and Al play together THIS year with all the changes that have been made to the defensive scheme. It might not be long before he's starting full time if they show they can be effective together.

As for Bell, I am not a big fan but at least he came into camp with 0 expectations and will do what is asked.

I bet he does not get a ton of minutes and he seems like a good defensive role model for our wings.

I know this, When Utah played the Jazz @ Indy last year, he stopped on his way into the locker room and signed for my son and was very polite and professional. Went a long way with me.

If Bell is really the starter then that is not good. Hopefully they are showcasing him to trade him.

We'll know we're in trouble if Ty subs Bell back in at the 5 minute marks of the 2nd and 4th. But I think Ty is going to use him like Chicago used Bogans last year. I just hope it doesn't take long before he draws his first DNP.

I love Milsap but things like this bother me. We are paying you millions of dollars so shut up and play on whatever position/unit we tell you to. Do not take this crap public. If you have a problem fine, raise it appropriately but once the decision is made then toe the line.
You need to take your own advice nothing in his interview with Locke makes me think he is acting out or anything like that. Is he disappointed, sure if he wasn't I would then be worried about him not caring about starting. This will only drive him to be better.

Look at Cj. I remember him saying last year that he preferred coming off the bench, and that starting wasn't that big a deal. Who would you rather have on your team. Millsap will be fine

Brian T. Smith: Ty talk https://yfrog.com/oerl8dcj
Brian T. Smith: Corbin said Millsap's move to bench is not demotion

David Locke: Paul Millsap "Its frustrating. I'm not going to complain if coaches says its best for the team its best for the team"

David Locke: Paul Millsap "I could see it coming

Jim Burton: Millsap (right quad) will be a game time decision tonight

Brian T. Smith: Millsap said there's no way coming off the bench doesn't affect him but he plans to deal with it as well as he can

Brian T. Smith: Millsap said NBA's like a job. Anytime something changes, you can't help but feel it. Team player, though, and will adapt

Jody Genessy: Millsap's injury situation did not factor into Corbin's starting lineup decision

Jody Genessy: Millsap did not hide the fact he wants to be a starter, but he's taken a what's-best-for-the-team approach to his return to a reserve role.

Brian T. Smith: Millsap said his quad flared up Monday. Unsure whether he'll be active vs. Lakers and will "play it by ear."

Jody Genessy: The Jazz will not announce captains at this point. Corbin believes the situation play itself out, and leaders will rise to the occasio

David Locke: Millsap "for the good of the team, ill take the role and accept it. Coach asks u to do something I am willing to do whatever I can for team

Zach Lowe: So does Utah's use of Millsap off bench means Millsap as SF is dead? Or will we see it in tiny stretches?

Jody Genessy: More Millsap: "I'm a team player. If the coach says that it will help our team, then I've got to be willing to do whatever."

Matt Harpring: watch out NBA. Millsap has another chip on his soldier. Look for him to dominate second teams power forwards.

One thing I'm sure Sap realizes is Ty has to split up personnel for both units. If he started, that leaves Watson/CJ/Howard(Burks)/Favors/Kanter. Howard is still learning what we do, CJ is the only guy in that group who can get his own shot, and the whole unit would struggle to score.

Now we've got scorers and playmakers on both units. The irony is if Favors shows he can score a little, Ty might feel better about moving him back to the second unit where he can assert himself more.

Ummmmm starters don't get DNP's except due to injury, if that's what your implying. Bell starting is only a bad thing if he is playing starter minutes. I do believe he will be a lot better this year then he was last year.
