What's new

Jazz @ Thunder 12/5/2017 6:00 pm MST

Adams usually beats up Gobert. He is the guy who made Gobert slip in the draft process by beating him up in pre-draft workouts.

Just a frustrating game. Felt like we got away from the offense in the 4th quarter in favor of too much 1-on-1 stuff. A lot of dumb turnovers by Mitchell and just trying to do too much against Roberson. Roberson is just one of those defenders you have to go away from. I think he gave Hayward the most trouble out of any individual defender last year too.

Um, no. Gobert hasn't played this badly in years. Adams doesn't usually make Gobert his bitch.

sahlensguy: Low energy all game. Thunder just had less energy in the first half.
LifeOnaPlate: LOL we aren't beating Cavs or Celtics. Playing some of the best ball in the league right now
Zombie: donovwn was great overall, don’t get me wrong. Honestly this one was lost in the first half of the fourth
sahlensguy: We were playing some of the best ball too. Still lost tonight. We can beat any team on any given night.
Ron: (LifeOnaPlate:
5 of our next six, Ron. Houston- L Milwaukee- L Bulls- W Celtics- L Cavs-L Rockets- L) Lol, no. We will win a couple of those.
LifeOnaPlate: Snyder should've burned a timeout early in the fourth during the drought, he also should have put
Favors and Jerebko in
Ron: Bucks did so well against us last time right?
MT: I just hate playing at OKC
LifeOnaPlate: It's on the road.
MT: How many double digit leads have we blown against them over the years
dipship31: probably not a lot of double digit leads blown @OKC
LifeOnaPlate: We were up 17 for hell's sake. I kind of hate a loss like this worse than a simple ten point loss, being beat the entire game
Ron: Jazz legs gave out, calls didnt go our way it happens. OKC played very physical against a tired Jazz in the fourth and the refs only called 1 foul
Ron: against OKC in the 4th
dipship31: @LOAP yep I'm with you. This sucks and I do think we're in for a super rude awakening this month. When we have a lead like that we gotta find a way
LifeOnaPlate: Wish I had your optimism on this one, Ron. This was a bad loss, shouldn't have been a loss, and we're in for the worst stretch of any schedule in tNBA

heartbreaker, that 4 minute scoring drought early to midway through the 4th quarter hurt.

was interesting to see the team kind of freeze at the end and look to Mitchel to score for them.

DM will learn from this, and be better the next time.

Ron: Our bigs were in foul trouble all game, which also didnt help. Those back to back blocks from Favors and Gobert that got called fouls hurt as well.
LifeOnaPlate: No question there were bad calls. But their defense is pretty good, exposed our offensive weaknesses. And Quin, instead of going with the lineup
Ron: @LOP this was a scheduled loss. I expected it to be a struggle but was hoping some hot shooting could get us past. Things worked against us.
LifeOnaPlate: we've been suceeding with sans Gobert, inexplicably plays Rudy down the stretch.
Ron: We are still playing some of the best BB in the NBA right now.
LifeOnaPlate: Scheduled loss, sure, that we led by 17 points during.
yamers: okc is a solid team
yamers: they got the talent
Ron: This loss was not on Gobert
yamers: they blew out gsw a week ago
yamers: gobert was awful
yamers: he got ****in torched by adams
yamers: but i partially blame that on the refs
Ron: Yep, thats is what happens when teams are really worn out and playing a decent team on the road. Their legs give out and they struggle at the end
yamers: yeh it happens
LifeOnaPlate: 5 points and 6 boards is not a good game for Rudy.
yamers: i just didnt agree with rudy in
yamers: favors was benched
yamers: fior what?
LifeOnaPlate: Rudy should not have been on the floor down the stretch, period.
Ron: Gobert needs to step up and start playing better but there are plenty of issues beyond Gobert this game. Favors was in foul trouble and very worn out.
yamers: favors is 2x rudy on offense atm
sahlensguy: Our offense struggled. Gobert got minutes. Coincidence?
ONE: Maybe..
Ron: I do wish Gobert would not rely on his length to rebound defensively and offensively.
Jazz4ever: Rudy is just not the same this year. Last April he averaged 17/13.5/3
LifeOnaPlate: I thought Rudy was on am inutes restriction, too. Wasn't it like 24 minutes or something?
yamers: rudy is just really bad on offense
Ron: Gobert got minutes yesterday and the team was fine.
yamers: teams dont have to do much to make him useless on the offensive side
MT: That is a really dumb take
ONE: What can we get for Gobert?
ONE: Tatum?
yamers: i wouldn't trade em
yamers: rubio was also realy awful tbh
Ron: Honestly that would have been a bad loss if it wasnt for Mitchell playing very well but worn out as well at the end. He forced it a bit at times.
LifeOnaPlate: I'm not saying trade Rudy. I'm saying in this game, with Rudy barely coming back from an injury, on a back to back, at the end of the fourth, play Fav
LifeOnaPlate: And yeah, Rubio boo.
LifeOnaPlate: Give me Neto right now.
Ron: Burks should have come in for Rubio earlier.

Gave this one away. Jazz have the chops to play with the top teams, but they still need to be healthy, play with good rotations, move the ball and play defense.

Sucks to lose one that they had in hand going into the 4th.

LifeOnaPlate: I'm not nearly as smart as Snyder. But I can't understand why he had Gobert out there to close the game.
LifeOnaPlate: And yes, Rubio played too long.
LifeOnaPlate: He was out there as we died in the beginning of the fourth, way too long.
Ron: Favors looked like he was going to die at the end, he was very worn out. He was battling guys and struggling at the end as well.
LifeOnaPlate: Huh. I didn't see that, I admit, Ron.
sahlensguy: Adams was just beasting
Ron: Rubio cant stop turning the ball over. They are always the bad turnovers as well. He makes some really dumb passes right to the other team for easy
Ron: buckets
sahlensguy: What is Rubio good at again?
LifeOnaPlate: Rubio's turnovers seem to covert to baskets on the other end at a high rate. Would be interested to see numbers on that.
Ron: I wish Inlges had hit one of those wide open threes. I think we could have held on to win.
Catchall: Jazz could really have used Rodney Hood tonight
sahlensguy: Don't everybody answer at once.
LifeOnaPlate: I'm not a Rubio fan. Had high hopes. Now I just don't thunk he's any good. Maybe the coaching staff can pull off some magic with him over time, but ri
Ron: Yes, Hood would have been big.
LifeOnaPlate: And Jingles, yes. 4/11 from 3 is bad. Especially with so many open looks.

Ron: I was not excited about Rubio in trade rumors, I thought he was a bad fit but I got myself excited for him when we traded for him.
LifeOnaPlate: I was excited to see him paired with Hayward. Hayward helps spacing, and Rubio could, I thought, help distribute. Now I wonder if he even would have w
Ron: But I think I am losing faith in him fitting in. He should come off the bench regardless though. Hood and Mitchell should start or Mitchell and Burks.
LifeOnaPlate: worked w/ Hayward
Ron: I felt the opposite. I thought he was a bad fit with Hayward since he is so ball dominant and cant play off ball and shoot like Hill.
Ron: I thought he was a decent choice for a team with Gobert pick and roll and some shooters. We needed a playmaker with Hayward gone.
LifeOnaPlate: You were correct. I was deluded.
yamers: ****in aye
Ron: But Mitchell has filled that and I think I would rather Burks and Hood fill in.
yamers: my okc friend: rubio is awful
yamers: ye no ****
yamers:

LifeOnaPlate: The only solace I have is that OKC legit does kind of suck, and they aren't going anywhere, and PG is gonna leave.
yamers: rubio with 34 mins today
Ron: Our offense isnt designed to have a ball dominant point guard. We need everyone to play off ball and Rubio can not.
yamers: is a disaster waiting to happen
LifeOnaPlate: I guess maybe they'll still find a way to develop Rubio. Hope so. It would be nice. I don't see it, though, with how poor of a shooter he is.
yamers: its a shooters league
Catchall: OKC still bottom of the NW Division atm
yamers: lonzo ball is gona be in china soon
yamers: rubio as well
MT: i am pretty convinced that Rubio isn't the correct long-term fit
Ron: The staff needs to run different sets with Rubio on the court, maybe develop the bench to play around him more to a style that fits. I dont know.
yamers: oh when did you see that?
Ron: I am leaning away from Rubio long term. I am also leaning away from him short term. Bring him off the bench for limited minutes once Hood is back.

Take a deep breath fellas. Don't overreact. We blew a game on the road. We will learn from this.

It was obvious we needed another scorer tonight. C'mon Hood.

I wouldn't have minded a bit more Ekpe in the 4th when we had nothing. Always brings good calm fundamentals. JJ probably wins this for us as well.
