Nope, doesn't work that way. Have to be 'merican from birth to become president. What's next? American citizenship and a run for President?

Well, i've got to admit I would have been in favor of a great naturalized candidate over most of the clowns we've had running for president in the last several elections.I don't know if this provision would be found constitutional if seriously tested.
The people who are expecting 20 and 30 something year old athletes to have and articulate their opinions on Chinese affairs are ridiculous. Probably the same crowd who chants "stick to dribbling" Double standard.
I've read a ton on China and certainly would not be comfortable making any public statement.
If NBA players choose to have a cause that they study and express opinions on, more power to them (racial equality, paying college athletes, whatever).
But expecting them to do so is just a tool for political nutjobs like Limbaugh.
LBJ is awesome. Period.
LBJ was criticizing Morey for having a public opinion, even going as far as to suggest he should be sanctioned. China is only tangential to the issue.
Unless you think China should have a veto on free speech in the NBA, then that makes YOU the political nutjob.

Unless it contradicts another part of the Constitution, the text of the Constitution is by default Constitutional.
You’re being too easy in Lebron. He made a serious accusation against Morey (that he was uninformed) and had no evidence for that accusation. He immediately hid behind the claim that it was his “belief”. That’s doubly weak.No one is debating whether or not people should have free speech so take that straw man argument elsewhere.
no one is arguing that China should control our speech, so stop making things up.
LeBron questioned what Morey said, he did not criticize him for having an opinion as you allege.
LeBron wanted to sanction morey? Please provide link.
Besides that, great post.
Regardless of what we expect out of Lebron, he is a figure with real power and influence.I don’t agree with everything LeBron has said and done in this or any situation. It is just dumb to think that he should be a spokesperson who can talk intelligently about Chinese policies.
If any of y’all are seriously pissed about how the Chinese are treating their people, are you still buying iPhones? If so, you are part of the problem. We tend to have selective outrage.
And I see that you’re all but vacated any claim that he was speaking intelligently on this issue, so I guess there’s no need to debate that.
You’re a great poster, so I guess I’ve misunderstood you. I saw your statements that LeBron was awesome, period—and I guess I assumed that his thorough awesomeness probably included how effective he is as a public figure. If you don’t feel this way, then cool. I apologize for assuming otherwise. You’ll have to explain to me how one vacates a claim that one never made.

That was a fair inference from what I said so I apologize to you, sir. I think LeBron is an awesome and intelligent person but this was not his finest moment for sure.
Straight up business decision wasn't ir? Its not gonna hurt brand le bron on the mainland and american fans dont care.
LeBron knows as much about Hong Kong or Chinese civil rights as most Americans which is jack crap.
I sell products to Chinese companies every day so I’d be a total hypocrite to judge him.
If any of y’all boycott all Chinese made products, go ahead and throw stones from your glass houses.
