Getting to his new team now means he can get the five year max not the four. Look at his list of preferred destinations and tell me this is about winning... idiot.
 
Jimmy orchestrated a giant media fiasco to help him gain leverage... he attacked several of his teammates openly. Minny should have already traded him but this is about jimmy getting what he wants. Not the guy you bring in... unless we are willing to give the five year max he’d likely pitch a fit here too.

I would think about it if this were his first show, but Jimmy comes with a history of drama and throwing teammates under the bus. Our chemistry is so good and important right now that I wouldn't dare to mess with it for a couple of wins now and drama later.

He needs to get out... or he actually loses a good chunk of money.

My guess is the Heat verbally committed to a 5 year max and became his preferred destination. If he played out the year the most he can get is 4 years and smaller raises.

Jimmy gonna get out and Jimmy gonna get paid.
