Being able to bully someone on the court a little bit more than he used to just means he can uses his strength more, and not be the one being pushed around.

Yes, agreed.

He never mentioned his style of play is now like this nasty ***-kicker a la Ron Artest.

I didn't see where in the article Genessy claimed it was.

He didn't describe himself as a Bully as the article states - nor should D-Will/Delonte/etc. beware of him roughing them up. That's not his game, and he most certainly didn't assert that in those quotes.

Again, I didn't get that out of the article at all. All I saw the article talking about was his improved strength and weight, and the ability to not be the one pushed around. Just like you said.

Perhaps you can post some specific quotes that caused you to feel Genessy was misrepresenting things. Because I'm just not seeing it.

Jody is a funny dude. I appreciate the way he covers the team. He has a personality and seems like a genuine guy.

People are too tough on Jody and Locke. Both do good work... don't take everything so seriously and you'll have a more enjoyable life.

“It has been good. I’m more on balance and just stronger,” Hayward said about his offseason workouts, which improved his body composition. “I’m able to kind of just bully some people a little bit more than I was able to.”

How was that taken out of context? I don't have a problem with the article, it seems just fine.

Agreed. There's a fool here, but it's not Genessy.

DJJazzyJody is rad. And his name is cool.

Jody, the only ones on this board complaining about your writing style are viewed as goof balls anyways. Most of us like that we have guys like you to report the stuff we do get. You should post here more often. It would certainly make me read more articles from local guys. Most of us kind of forget that the local stuff gets published, what with ESPN and all the blogs and stuff. Maybe when you write especially cool articles, start a thread about them in jazz forum, and we can all enjoy them/throw unwanted criticism your way.

I enjoy your writing. You have a realness about it that makes it easier to read, like the story came from a friend or something instead of just a writer.

I get that not everybody loves my sense of humor and certainly not every joke I throw out there. Heck, even I wonder what I was thinking after clicking "post" sometimes. I do, however, take exception to Young Blood's assertion that only 20% of my jokes are funny (or at least not cringe-worthy). I'm at least 25% funny.

Since I started writing about sports at the D-News (perhaps before some of you were born), I've taken the approach that stories should be as interesting as they are informative. So, that's my approach. I try to entertain and inform. Sometimes players/coaches/others provide the fun content. Sometimes I try to. And when it's not appropriate, I just stick with the facts and/or story.

It can be a tricky balance.

Well, again, I've got no problem with your writing whatsoever - I do think it is top notch and like you said most of the time it is interesting as well as informative. I get that anyone can write an informative piece, but to make it interesting as well is not so easy. So again, I do think you're doing a great job there in terms of the articles that you write.

It's really the twitter account that I have a bit of a problem with. And yes I do think it is an important part of what you do, at times Twitter is really your first point contact with the public. I brought up that joke about the Jazz making the playoffs in 2041 - to me that's one of the more cringe-worthy jokes. I really don't mind some 'well considered jokes' (which by the way Bill Simmons does very well - you'll notice how he keep his joke-based tweets to a minimum), but tweeting out a joke just for the sake of tweeting I don't find particularly interesting. To me it's gotten so bad that I sometimes wonder whether a tweet is an actual piece of info or just a joke, and when that line is blurred I don't think that's a good thing for the general public, just for the sake of being 'interesting' or 'funny'.

Like I said you're doing a great job but this is just my 2 cents. This is a Rep comment I got last night, so I don't think I am alone in my view on this:

Jody sucks. Seems like a nice guy, but his jokes suck and he tweets out more of those than anything substantive about the Jazz.

That's a fair criticism. Guess I was being a bit thin-skinned.

Im not a big fan of your work. You come across as kind of a George Bush of media. Not too bright, appealing to idiots, and kind of lovable. I do respect you for coming here, and talking to us though. You are a cool dude Id love to have a beer with. You probably dont drink beer. Ill follow you on twitter now.
