What's new

Joe Ingles

(in my defense, I started my campaign before we acquired Bojan. I still think there’s some clear sense in starting Royce, but Joe obviously isn’t being maximized.)

I think the starting five is good with Royce, more so I think the rotations need to be tweaked to get Joe more involved

For whatever reason Joe has lost a step. Maybe he's tired. Maybe he's sick. Maybe he's just in a slump and because of that he doesn't have that energy. So how do we deal with any of those? Maybe starting him would provide a spark, who knows?

But yeah, I agree that Royce should be perfect with the starters, especially if Conley comes out of his shooting slump and Bojan is a little more consistent.

Really if we're consistent we don't need more scoring for the starters and Royce has that defense. Especially with Rudy's increased scoring.

Sometimes chemistry issues don’t make sense. Joe needs to get going, so, after a while, maybe you gotta do a couple of things that don’t make sense just to see what happens.

Weird suggestion and maybe even a bad idea (there's pros and cons). But what if we started Green at the 4 and brought both Joe AND Royce off the bench? I was looking at some stats today and Green has a higher usage than either right now. Green 18.0%, Joe 13.4%, Royce 8.4%. That isn't beneficial because the only positive Green is bringing right now is 3 point shooting. So the idea behind this move would be to put Green in O'neales current low usage role and use up most of his 19 minutes a night on the floor with the starters where he can just be a spot up shooter and have his weaknesses covered. Royce and Joe would still get the same amount of minutes coming off the bench that they are getting now. Bench unit in the first half would theoretically be stronger because Royce is more efficient than Green. Ingles would theoretically see a rise in usage and maybe could get going.

Joe is shooting 32.1% (32.0% from 3) on wide open shots (nobody within 6 feet) according to NBA.com. No way that possibly continues. He's way too good of a shooter for that.

Mike Conley is shooting 35.6% on wide open shots according to NBA.com. Can't see that continuing either.

This.

Joe is almost money when he's wide open. He's just sucking right now
