Game Thread Jun 16, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Clippers - Game 5

Added to Calendar: 06-16-21

I mean yes, he doesn't make any decisions on offense which sucks but I think putting him on Beverley was a nice move where he could have success. Oni isn't Mann who is probably their 4th-5th best player and he doesn't need to be for us to win this series. I think Mann is a rotation piece for the Jazz. He is not some Craig or Ariza or Shaq.
Mann isn’t their 4th or 5th best guy... he’s like their 8/9 guy... and you are right he’d be our 7th guy right now and be getting 20-25 minutes a night.

It makes you wonder if maybe there really is something to those Danny Ainge rumors that were floating around a few weeks ago.
Here is how depressed I am... I might go for that change right about now and I hate Ainge so much.

Kawhi, PG, Morris, Jackson than? Zubac has been unplayable for 2 series. Rondo as well, Kennard is a nice shooter but absolute liability on defense. Maybe Batum but he hasn't been as impactful.

I hear ya. Our asset cupboard is basically empty at this point so I'm not even sure how much difference a new GM could make. At least he would maybe be able to make better draft picks.

Terrance Mann got to play for the Clippers not because Clippers exercised their patience on him like we did with Niang or Oni. In fact he was in and out of the lineup very frequently as a freshman and now sophomore. But the kid was absolutely fearless and could put up impressive numbers in a short amount of playing time which convinced his coach to play him more. And this is just his second year.

It took Niang about three years before I'd say I'm starting to feel comfortable watching him on the floor. Now imagine how long it would take Oni/Forrest/Hughes/Doke to get there. Or ask Bradley, will they ever get there?

Our player development are wasting their precious time out there working on guys whose ceiling is just somebody else’s floor.

Wade has the kind of inside expertise on winning it all. He’s now a part owner. The majority owner is going to listen to him. Wade has no loyalty to DL. In past Utah tradition, getting that position puts on on a pedestal that has everyone automatically taking the defensive for any position, no matter how ridiculous. But Wade has played in the league. He’s won titles. He’s a future HOF. DL doesn’t have a resumé to argue with that. What he can fall back on is his position, his position of being an executive of a team that Wade partially owns.

If we make an exit here, I have a hard time seeing DL survive with this ownership group. And I don’t think he would want to, either.

Nah... but if we got the performances they did from Batum and they got the bum performances then sure.

kennard, Batum, Mann, Zubac have all contributed a ton... please no one here tell me the 10/11th men don’t matter next year... they do. Also don’t tell me buyout guys don’t matter Jackson was a buyout guy last year... Batum this year. Without those guys we are 3-2 or maybe the series is over.
Yeah we picked up left overs of buyouts absolute disgrace recruiting who ever is in charge with that should be fired

If someone is let go at the end of this season I just hope it's DL and not Quin. I still have a lot more faith in him than I do DL.

Morris was a buyout guy as well.

Sure helps when your franchise is located in LA. I do think that DL deserves a lot of criticism and I hope the Jazz go in a new direction next year, but we should also be realistic - no other small market team is getting great veteran minimum or buyout players either except for the Cavs with Lebron.

I really hope the NBA tries to do something about the buyout market in the next CBA.

If Conley "didn't fill an actual need" then his absence wouldn't be murdering us right now.
False equivalency. He's still a very good player so any very good player will leave a hole when there is no replacement. It does not mean he fills any immediate need other than the need for a better player than his current replacement, who is basically no one.

Get rid of DL, and shake up this roster. Royce can stay as a back up energy player. Niang will play his last game in a Jazz uni game 6.

Goodbye Conley and Favors. Worthless in the playoffs

100% this. DL has ****ed too much up. Our bench literally goes one deep in a matchup against a team like the Clippers. It’s not just the “back end” of the roster that has issues. It’s more like half the roster that is totally unplayable in the playoffs. That’s not on Quin and that’s not on the players (who are who they are). It is 100% on DL for putting the roster together the way he did.

As much as some of our players deserve a lot of blame, Snyder might actually deserve the most blame. He's done a horrendous job coaching this series.

Yep. I suggest you all join me in taking a mental health day on Friday. The 25 point loss we’re gonna take in the teeth will just make you feel worse.

We can’t guard the Clippers. Period. It’s done. Don’t delude yourselves into thinking something will change.

this entire playoffs the jazz couldn't guard a traffic cone...every game the opposing teams **** all over us.

our bench is literally... CLARKSON and then...NIANG and ONI....lmao
