What's new

Kanter is ready to be an all-star

wait till the season starts and jefferson wil need 38+ minutes
enes can basically do in 25 mins what all does in 38 lol.... who would you play? if i was the ty id be playing milsap and kantor together and favors and al together. the make up where the other lacks.. lets just split time right down the middle... who cares who is young and whos old... and if sap or al or favors or enes is sucking let them ride the pine till next game... THE BEST PLAYERS SHOULD PLAY!!

*Side note it is the preseason though...

Half of his points and rebounds were garbage time. But the most important things he has done against Blazers were dealing with the toughness that the opposition's 2 bigs tried to cast on him, %100 from the floor, focused shooting and layups. I have a reason to believe he can be consistent in those added skills: Competitive Emotion. Kanter does not give up starving for the win for even one nanosecond. So he's your guy to develop up to that point.

~ And he still doesn't receive the ball well, usually commits loose ball in fast breaks, can't position himself naturally on the right lane all the time on transition. Those are important things that will always stand in his way to be a Go-To-Guy, hence a star whether if all or super.

He is only 20 and he only started playing the game at 14

Right and he's way too good for that matter (playing the game for only 6 years). So those are the things he should cover - coaches and mentors should assist him to cover- so that he can be absolutely amazing. I was shocked when he dunked reverse and contact on the Thunder center and I follow him from way back. So there is a gem on our hands that must and can be worked on as soon as possible.

There was one position on a fastbreak when Enes dribbles the half court to drive in but got fouled, and the commentator was amazed saying "Look at that!" which you don't see in bulky centers or PFs. This is another really important basic skill of him which we always see in the bigmen coming from Turkey and generally FIBA. They train bigs with the fundementals of a pg there. Dribbling, ball handling, passing, and shooting even from beyond the arc. Look at Hedo, he's like a better PG. Memo? No need to go to specifics. Kanter has it beyond the 3 pt'r line, can dribble? Better than most in his size. Passing? He's better than what most of the Jazz fans think and will get better as he gets more comfortable with the team and playing in NBA (the getting psyched out issue that he has got over pretty much this season). Playing mentally with the team, being "one" is a process, and it will aid his ball handling, pass receiving, so they are as important as post up moves for Enes.

This thread cracks me up. I say the same things about Burks and I get killed for it. LOL.

Hopefully Kanter continues his dominance on that floor. He has a nice short history there.

Doesn't matter. NBA relies so much on sheer athleticism, intellect, and court awareness that players by-and-large either have it or they don't. In the vast majority of cases, we know by the end of the 2nd season what a player has. This is Kanter's year to show whether he has an unlimited ceiling or if he will be just another good player in the NBA.

Favors is also young but I think we know what we have at this point. A defensive stopper with limited offensive weaponry.
