You guys can't see through your homerism. For his rookie year, I accepted all the excuses, plus he was playing against NBA stars. Now he's playing against scrubs and he isn't playing any better. Sure he's big and strong, but that's about it. Seriously ... Koufos had some 20-point games in the SL before we packed him up in the trade for Big Al. People, myself included, were giving lots of slack to Koufos because he was young and showed flashes like Kanter has from time-to-time.
But Kanter was slow, is still slow, and has the same moves he had two years ago. He still is not a good outside shooter and he can't jump well. It's like he has lead in his feet.
Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Even the beat writer in Orlando had the headline, Kanter's size bothered Magic -- It did? How many times did Kanter get blocked? The box score says twice, but they missed one of Jeremy's blocks. And Kanter had no blocks despite that the Magic guards were constantly going to the basket. Heck, Luke Nevill was holding his own with Kanter and Nevill who also can't jump blocked one of his shots.
Like I said, I hope I'm wrong, but it's not looking good.
Oh, and Jeremy looked considerably better than Kanter -- though as we know, his lack of bulk hurts. Did you see that Nicholson kid ... love to have him instead of Kanter, though he is older and Kanter's size gives him more upside. But Kanter's slowness and lack of jumping ability, I fear, is going to prevent him from ever being more than a backup, like Kosta.
