I think a deal could be had with the Suns based on their GM's comment in this article on ESPN:
There are a few players I like from the Suns that's realistic for us: Reggie Bullock and Archie Goodwin.
Bullock is a 3 and D player that should fit right into our system. Goodwin I think has lots of potential. If we can get both of those for Kanter I'd be very happy.
Those were the words from Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough during a radio interview on Wednesday when discussing his roster.
"I think our roster balance is a little off, and that's my fault," McDonough told Burns and Gambo on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. "We are a little too backcourt heavy, especially in terms of guys who, you know, I think you'd define primarily as scorers in the backcourt. So I think at some point we'll need to balance that out, try to get a little more size, a little more frontcourt scoring and rebounding."
The Suns currently have eight wings (SG's/SF's) on the roster and they are: Eric Bledsoe, Reggie Bullock, Zoran Dragic, Archie Goodwin, Gerald Green, Marcus Morris, P.J. Tucker and T.J. Warren, which means a few of them will have a hard time making the playing rotation. Also, four players can play at point guard and they are Goran Dragic, Bledsoe, Isaiah Thomas and Tyler Ennis.
There has been talk that center Miles Plumlee id available if a team is willing to give up a future first round pick.
Speaking of Goran Dragic, he owns a player option worth $7.5 million for next season, which he's expected to decline so he can join the 2015 free agent market. For that reason there has been some speculation that Dragic could be traded by the Feb. 19 deadline since the Suns can lose him for nothing in July.
Gery Woelfel of The Journal Times adds to the speculation by tweeting: "Hearing Suns want a first-rounder for Goran Dragic and, rest assured, they'll get it. Rockets got to be tempted."
So, does McDonough think he'll make a trade by next Thursday's deadline?
"At the same time it's a challenge because we do have talented players, they've all had success individually and team success in the NBA," he said, "so those are some of the decisions we'll kind of mull over the next week or so and we'll see where we are on the 19th next week."
