To free Kanters cap space we just had to renounce his rights so that would have been no problem. I just dont like the 1st rounder is so far in the future. Hope this trade does not bite us.

So you'd rather free up space by renouncing him for free than free up space by getting actual assets? That's ridiculous...

Cap space has never been less valuable than it is right now.

Correct. Take for instance Phil Jackson's plans to retool the Knicks by clearing cap space for free agents to rebuild the Knicks. That guy is a dolt who knows nothing about how to win in the NBA. doh!

Maybe the light will switch on for him in OKC, but I think it's pretty likely he's elsewhere next year. He has some talent, for sure, but to this point he has never been able to actually play good basketball on a consistent basis and after the better part of four years that's pretty damning.

Most of his minutes will be taken up by Gobert and Booker. Better defense, fewer points by the other team. With more minutes Booker and Gobert will score more.

Minutes don't add up to more points if your not talented offensively ,more likely adds up to a poorer shooting percentage. And Defense doesn't win games in the west.
Dallas got Amare ,Portland got Affalo...they know you better be able to get points in the more wide open West

My guess would be that we trade the first round pick again to someone, hopefully this off season.

If Durant leaves the value of that pick goes up.
