Kanter's minutes

I figured out why Corbin won't play Kanter as many minutes as the rest.

He's afraid of this.

It's the only reasonable explanation.

The only reason he is not 5th is because Burke got hurt halfway through a game so it messed up his average, and before that JLIII did not get as many minutes.

One of them would average more minutes a game, and Evans and RJeff are right behind him.

I just don't think we need to see what Evans or the scrubs can do at the expense of Kanter's minutes.
Kanter has played less minutes ever than Hayward, Favors, Burks, RJeff... he needs the minutes in preseason to gel and work on stuff.
If you have to take more minutes from RJeff, he's been around and you know what you'll get out of him. He doesn't need to develop skills during preseason, he only needs to build chemistry.

I find it annoying that he's getting 5-10 less minutes a game in the more recent games than Hayward and Favors. Yes, it bothers me, can you tell?

The rest, meaning the rest of the "core".

If I recall correctly, he got decent minutes last preseason. I wouldn't be too surprised to see his minutes, and thus production, decrease and a justification for bringing him off the bench happen. Ever since the GSW trade I've said Jefferson was starting and there's about a 50/50 chance Kanter goes to the bench.

Jefferson plays the 5? RJ WILL start, but that's so Hayward can play the 2 and Burks can be the 6th man.

Kanter should have taken a few more minutes on the court than he did. But I don't think he played minor minutes if you think about his situation. He had a surgery and he has just been healed. But 6 months without balling and team-level exercises can take any player's performance and condition lower. Remember the news about him starting to take part in 5 on 5's just in the beginning of the training camp? I don't think he is ready for contacts and 35 per game stamina. Ty is doing a good job keeping his best offensive bigman out of harm's way. And I think his minutes alongside his willingness to play hard will increase in the regular season. Even if he said "It doesn't matter if it's preseason or regular. We have to win." you can see that he is not forcing it.

Lol. I like this guy
I don't carr what anybidy say

How can one not like the Spazz?

I don't disagree with Jefferson starting. Just saying that a lot of people thought he was coming off the bench by default. I would say Marvin and Biedrins each have a ~25% chance of entering the starting lineup at Kanter's expense.

Good post

I would go ballistic on here. Just nuts. Brickins should not even sniff the floor let alone start over anyone!

Wow, some of you defending Corbin.

We have come a long way as fans.

I'm impressed.

I'm willing to give Corbint his full year to see what he can show us. This year, for me anyways, is as mucha bout evaluating him as it is the youth.

For what it's worth, I was listening to Tip Off with David Locke yesterday, and he said the reason Kanter is not playing as much is that he keeps making mistakes on the court, so it's part frustration and part he is brought to the bench for instruction. Locke said that one time he was pulled last game, he went to the bench where an assistance coach then spent a good deal of time talking with Kanter, presumably to let him know what he was doing wrong and to instruct him.

Yes, I know many of you are not Locke fans, but he's certainly more plugged in than anyone here, and I have no reason to doubt him on this. (Personally, also, I like Locke, and I listen to his Tip Off podcast almost daily.)

I feel like that reason is pretty stupid. Of course he's going to make mistakes, all of our young guys are, but you don't see them getting pulled and benched. If anything he should still be getting the same amount of minutes and instruction from the coaches. That's why they watch film. Come on Corbin.

Another year? Haven't we been hearing the "give Corbin some time" thing for 2+ years?

Here are some things to point out:

Out of the three possible post season appearances the Jazz could have they only have one.

No one forced Corbin to use crappy rotations, that was his decision.

How many late game defensive positions did Favors sit the bench and Jefferson got abused?

Corbin has not shown any reasonable skill in the X's and O's part of coaching. After 2 and a half seasons we should have some optimism but there is none.

Corbin doesn't need another year to be evaluated, he's had plenty of opportunities. Time to see what else is available.

I am curious to see how Corbin fares and uses this young up and coming team. You are not. That's fine. If Corbin shows solid improvement keep in mund he is as young as a HC as our core is as players) then I would be open to exploring a new contract. If he does not show enough improvement then we drop him and move on.

Maybe we can get along AL to work with him again, next off-season ? Kanter has to learn, how he can use his strenght perfectly and get on it hard in the paint.

I hope its just something on a temporary basis after his Injury, because Kanter really is rebounding on Luis Scola Level since his injury appeared.
