Karl Malone 34 points-21 rebounds vs Bulls 92

the other thing that isn't really talked about but really shows in almost all videos, is how damn smart he was.

Dude sounded like an idiot.

But he played the game with such an incredible intelligence.

How often did we see Boozer make the wrong move on a pick and roll on defense or screw up with the hedging (basically any time he's put in a pick and roll situation? How often do you see Gasol just completely take the wrong angle? How often do you see guys like Amare take a shot when they should have driven or drove when they should have shot?

How often would he pull the chair from under the post player and draw a travel?

Never did he fail to box out.

The more and more I see the NBA and its bigs, the more I come to admire Malone. The more and more I see the guards of the NBA, the more and more I see how much we truly lacked back in the day. CJ Miles=Chris Morris. Instead of a guy like CJ Miles, we needed a guy like Manu. A guy that's solid, can take pressure off, create, but is never that great.

Think of it this way, Hayward, a young player that is still developing probably would be the Jazz's 3rd or 4th wheel back in the day. I think that says a lot of the Jazz not having much around Malone and Stockton...

Or had we had Memo (before his injury) instead of Felton Specer, Tag, Police, Todd Fuller, and Jerry's shower buddy? Stockton, Hornacek, Money Memo, and Malone would have led the Jazz to at least 3-4 titles.

but I think that Enes and Malone have a lot of similarities, and I think Enes could possible become a better post player.

Malone is so much more athletic, powerful and fierce it is not even close to compare those two. Look how explosive he is going for those dunks or rebounds. Sorry but Kanter is nowhere near similar to K.Malone. He looks very similar to big Al when it comes to post up play and that up and under move looks like stolen from big AL. but Malone... seriously? how many young players where compared to Malone ( Kemp, Coleman to name a few and even our own K.Humphries ) since ninties and none turned out even half player K.Malone was.
The only player I see ever coming close to K.Malone's level is B.Griffin if he stays healthy.

Add AK to that lineup and you have dynasty.

Kanter looks big, but he's nothing like the athlete Malone was.

Malone would be a mix today of Amare, Zach, and Dwight. He'd be Boozer, but 100x more athletic, post moves, and actually had some something in the lower half.

The only player I think that compares to Malone today is Blake Griffin. Especially if he starts developing more of a pick and pop game and improves his FT shooting...

I think people need to look at Kanter as more of a Andrew bogut or Luiz Scola. A hustle player who's relentless on the boards and has some nice (developing) post moves. I'll reserve the franchise potential tag for later...

Favors on the other hand, has that franchise player potential...

I remember at one time thinking a young Larry Johnson was to be the next Karl Malone. There will never be another Malone, just like there will never be another Jordan.

Karl had athleticism over Kanter but they can both run like deer. Kanter really can move for someone his size.

I grew up watching Malone, and one thing that was always apparent to me was that he was never an elite athlete as far as his jumping was concerned. Malone almost never did ally-oops, very rarely dunked with two hands, and after about five years in the league would lay the ball up rather than dunking it time and time again. There were always dozens of high-flying acrobats that were far superior to Malone in their athleticism. Kemp would have destroyed Malone if it was based on pure athleticism. Blake Griffin is absolutely so far away from Malone that is isn't even worthwhile to entertain that comparison, Griffin is far superior. Malone would never, never, ever in a million years have won a dunk-contest--ever! Malone was pure power with a decent jump. He nearly always dunked with one hand and used his massive hands on every possession. Malone's athleticism was never his calling card. Malone's calling card was power, toughness, savvy, and an unstoppable jump-shot. Enes has tremendous power, toughness, and good fundamentals. Enes, like Malone, is not that big of a shot-blocker. I could go on and on with this. Enes does not equal Malone. But he has many similar attributes to Malone in his athleticism and some aspects of his game. Enes is light years away from Malone in lots of things, but not in athleticism, overall bulk, toughness, and desire to have contact. By the way, I think all comparisons of players are almost always wrong and simplistic. Enes, like all rookies, has done nothing upon his entrance into the NBA; it's what they do when they get there that matters.

There weren't really measurements back then. 6' 9" could mean with or without shoes, rounded up or rounded down, but most people don't know any of it. He's just listed at 6' 9" and a lot of pounds of pure muscle.

Unless someone can find something, I don't think there are details to be known.

really ? i thought he is taller, then Enes isnt that short as many people is concerned

on the other hand, as we had the most talented roster ever as Sloan said 2 years ago, we sucked. I think it is not all about individual players, it is about chemistry, i didnt watch utah back then but i guess they had a good chemistry which we appearantly dont have for the last few years, we are too much fluctuatious. I hope this young core will make things happen. So we gotta get rid of players who can ruin the chemistry (like Harris and Jefferson imo)

Many people will argue but Jefferson will be frustrated and give the team negative energy once his mins will go down. It is better to give him away and get something back while he has a good value instead of leaving when his contract is over. It would be much better for the team to get younger this year and not make playoffs instead of being eliminated in the first round. We can get another top 10 pick in this years draft and will add better pieces to our already very strong young core

its kind of funny,i was planing to come and see Utah-Chicago game this year(if the lockout ends),and it will be my first live-nba game.i hope i will witness something special as well.

Enes' size is just fine. He is actually a massive PF and a decent-sized center. Adequately-sized athletes are a dime-a-dozen; after sheer size, it's a combination of skill, athleticism, drive, and basketball IQ that make them great.

Jumping isn't the only measure for athleticism.

Malone might not have been an elite jumper, but he was an elite athlete nonetheless. His quickness and speed were insane.
