Durant is a better shooter and is more clutch. But James can D up Durant. Thats what seperates the two. James is all around better. A lot of people dont count defense as much as a factor as they should. We have seen Lebron even D up the likes of Rose. He should be winning defensive player of the year award every year. He is by far the best defender I have ever seen.

The finals last year showed quite a bit. I love Durant too but Lebron treated him like he was little brother. I think Durant will win a championship or two though. He is that good as well. But lebron > Durant
 
No disrespect to guys like Kobe or Jordan.

But look at what of kind of players they had and what Lebron had.

Shaq in his prime, Eddie Jones, Glen Rice, Nick Van Exel, Robert Horry, Ron Harper, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and so on.

Who did Lebron have? No other stars! Just role players and aging guys. Sometimes, it's not fair to just look at the rings.

Lebron would have had at least two more rings if he had half the player Kobe and Jordan used to have.

Even if I'm not a Lebron fan, he is the best player to ever play this game. Now, he has Bosh and Wade who are what Kobe and Jordan used to have and he is getting it done. You will never ever see a player as unique as Lebron again.

To go on, I like Lebron much more than Kobe and Jordan. Lebron is much more of a team player, imo.
 
Durant was ice cold against the wrecked Bulls the other night, nailing only 6 of his 19 shot attempts. But he grabbed 16 rebounds and added 6 assists and 2 blocks. I really don't want to think of him as a simple but talented 7 footer spot up shooter. His runners and isolations and drive-in's are amazingly dominant. And he is trying to be mistake-free in defense. Calling him a simple scorer would be unfair of us.

I don't believe he has reached his ceiling as a full player yet. But one thing he should probably cover as soon as possible is increasing his strength.
 
Another all around game by Durant in which he had a triple-double with 18 points of 5/8 shooting (2/3 threes and 6/6 FT's) 10 assists which include some amazing dimes and 11 boards in 26 minutes. Durant has some crazy passing skills and usually follows the ball coming back from the rim, I guess it's still not fair to call him only a spot up shooter.

Have people seriously still been trying to argue that Durant is better than LeBron, despite all the records he's breaking and the 16 game win streak? After the Heat completely dismantled OKC yet again?

LeBron is going to go back-to-back years with the regular season MVP and the Finals MVP.

Right. You can't expect to say that someone is the best since Jordan and not expect to turn it into a debate, be real. That's what this entire thread has been about: Durant vs LeBron.

What I meant was not the comparison for these two players' success right now. I just personally see the light in Durant for that long waited mission. That's all. I agree that Lebron is the thing right now. But I somehow get excited by Durant's game more. So I say in the long run, he will show some devastating success in his career.
