Keyonte George Hype & Appreciation Thread

Good thought. I have noticed that it seems like keyonte assists have increased playing with Collier.
Maybe it was sexton holding him back

He's just in his proper role now. Once he actually gets a chance to play with a full team and spend time learning to play as a team he will only get better. The whack a mole lineup the Jazz play has to be frustrating.

I do miss watching Sexton play though.

Still bullish on Keyonte. More and more I see a 6th man future for him, but in a good way.

Not sure he’s a true PG and you’re gonna want more size / better defense from someone playing off the ball.

But he’s gonna be a bucket for a long time.

His passing (getting better) decision making and turnovers all need a lot of work on offense.
I think his decission making is pretty good for a 2nd year guy. Sexton and Clarkson dribble into trouble much more than Key, and he isnt really taking Svi-type shots either unless clock forces them.

He misses some open guys but when he sees them he passes. Throws a lot of successful lobs as well, and not a lot of bad ones.

I've never been high on him for character and defensive issues, but now he's been playing with Collier in the backcourt, I see him doing better. As long as he doesn't have to be primary ball handler, and he fixes his attitude for defense, he might become actually good in a good team.

If Clarkson is your litmus test then yes, I agree.

I know that the progress is not linear but I just don't see any area that Keyonte improved in since the end of last season. There was probably some moderate improvement in his ability to draw fouls on the drives, but I think thats it. If he is going to top off as the younger version of Clarkson...thats OK, I guess. But a young Clarkson with the Keyonte's level of defense is a very meh player.

Everything counts, of course, but if you believe Key is the player he's been for the majority of season he's made significant progress on offense. He had a really rough start but has been so much better on offense since then. Defensively, I think he's basically just as bad as before and maybe even worse this year. His defensive habits are truly awful.

His defense is better just simply based on the fact that his body language has improved tremendously from last year and he sulks down the floor after mistakes 80% less often from last year.

Not sure how you can think his defense is worse this year. Not that I’m defending his defense or anything but it’s definitely improved

Meh….he’s making so many awful mistakes regardless of his body language. Whether he’s willing or doing his best “locked in” face ala Sexton his defensive instincts are dreadful.

You seem to be misunderstand or just arent aware. Many plays last year Keyonte would make a mistake and sulk, and not get down the court. He does that far less often and yes, that is being better on defense. Its got nothing to do with having a "locked in" face.
