Weaver played a ton of point in college and was projected as potentially being one in the NBA. I'd sign him and see if he can backup the 1 or the 2.
He's a good spot-up shooter (but not great), a good ballhandler, a good passer, has a high bball IQ, and is a great defender. Does all of the little stuff, but doesn't appear to be a liability on either side of the floor. I was interested in him in 2008, and from what I've seen, I'm only more interested now.
Numberica is right about Weaver. I think this guy is a Jazz player. He is a good man to man defender. His shot is not great at all but he plays under control (in comparison to Price & Gaines). He is more pass first than either of our 2 guys also. I would want him playing the back up 1 spot. And a little at the 2 if needed. He is a good kid from everything I have read. When we were working him out I heard a lot of good things from the Jazz. He would be an upgrade over Price.
Your exactly right. He does all the little stuff. Which means he is more successful when he plays with better players. He doesn't have to dominate the ball to be effective. Good role player and that is what we need at the Point guard spot. Somebody who won't try and do too much. No brainer in my opinion. But if there is 10 teams after him than that means we don't have a chance.
