Lakers-Jazz Trade

This trade is super critical for a few reasons... obviously the pick... but we need to offload Mike and Vando if we are truly going to end up in the bottom 3-4. Doing the trade could also block Indiana from doing a Turner trade they like. If they move Turner their defense goes to absolute ****. They could still move him in another deal... but blocking this obvious suitor would be huge.

We are currently too good for the year. Even if you can just nab 1 pick from LA for Mike, Bogey, and Vando... I do it.

If we trade Bogdonovic to someone else because the Lakers play hard ball then so be it. 20 - 40 games in to the season they will come back and we will have had Conley as a mentor for long enough at that point. Conley plus 1 or 2 decent contracts gets us another 1st. It may not be 2 by then but we will already have another from Bogie before the season begins.

Our first 30 games are like a funhouse of slaughter. We won't look good through that stretch even if we keep our Vets for a stretch.

What if we sent Bogey to Phoenix for Crowder/Shamet/1st then re-routed Crowder/Vanderbilt to Miami for Robinson/1st.

I think the Jazz end up keeping Vanderbilt. He fits the timeline of the re-build, and as long as we can offload some of the other vets, I don't think he will hurt our tank this season at all. He will be a nice piece to have going forward when we start trying to be competitive again.

Bringing Favors back for the $ they did was a mistake, and everyone here seemed to know it. I like Favs, but bringing in Favs and Conley, and the picks and inflexibility those moves cost the Jazz were huge mistakes.

I like Conley, but I want a player with more emotion. A floor general that is pure business, to the extent that they have never gotten a technical will not have the emotion a team needs in a leader.

I also knew at the time it was a case of Memphis "selling high" after Mike had a great playoff. He just cost too much and didn't move the needle. The Jazz should have gotten him for less. Memphis wanted to get off of his contract.
Sorry but i know the situatuon well. Mike ask to leave Memphis ( he didn't want to make only noise,, his word...), and if he had decide to stay, he will still be there. But yes, after JA turn to be that good, i'm pretty sure Memphis are now happy with the deal.

He's young and I'm fine keeping him. If he has first round value or close to it we should move him.

He hurts the tank a bunch imo... but not cuz he's crazy good... but because the drop off from him to what we would replace him with is big. That might be the difference of 5 games or so.

I think Bogey is moved for sure... based on trade interest and the guys we brought in. I think Mike is the guy that hurts the tank most but can be managed quite a bit. Mike is another big pivot because of who replaces the minutes he vacates.

Could likely do that with NAW and keep Vando. Getting out of Duncan's money is a pretty big benefit. Crowder fills the hole left by Tucker and they clear some wiggle room to retain Strus/Herro next year.

If we could somehow move all three of Bogey, Conley and JC before the season starts, I think we could probably keep Vano and still be a bottom 5 team. I'm confident they could get deals done for Bogey and JC but moving Conley might be a little more tricky. I'm fine with moving Vando if we have to, especially if it gets us another first. I'll also be happy if they keep him because I think his defense and energy and effort could be useful down the road when we're good again and actually trying to win games. Honestly, I'm good with whatever Ainge deicides to do with him.

Slaughterhouse fun!
