Lamar Odom Fighting for his Life

He might have had more money then I would see in 20 lifetimes, and wasted time on drugs and women, but the man had a heart as big as all outdoors. Easy for me to feel bad about LO. I've always known he was a better human being then a basketball player. I've always understood that to be the truth of the matter, and the reason so many of his brothers in the NBA care about him as much as they do:

What most people don't realize about Lamar Odom is that he's a better person than he is a basketball player.

"New Orleans Pelicans Coach Alvin Gentry, who coached Odom for two-plus seasons with the Clippers, said: “His greatest assets has also been the thing that doomed him because people took advantage of his kindness, his niceness, his always wanting to share.

“I remember he called me a year after I got fired by the Clippers and said, ‘Coach, I never really told you this, but I want to apologize. If I had been doing the right thing and playing the way I should have, you would have never gotten fired. So I just wanted to apologized for that.’ That’s what he did.

“People don’t understand. He was a good, good person that had demons. He had demons – everybody knows that. But I just think if you take into account his whole background and how he grew up and what was there, it’s not that hard to see where the demons came from. But he was a good human being, a very good person. A good person. That’s what he was.”

Another former Clippers coach, Vinny Del Negro, reflected on coaching Odom during the 2012-13 season.

“He had a great spirit, great guy," he told The Times. "He was fun to be around and he loved basketball. He worked incredibly hard to get back in shape."

Del Negro added: “You feel numb right now, because he was such a terrific person, and when you hear news like this, it just breaks your heart. ... I know a lot of people have reached out over the years to try to help him in various ways. The reason you did it was because he was such a tremendous person. He was so much fun to be around. You just always hoped for the best for him."

"He just wanted to get away, have a good time and relax,'' Hof told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

Hof said Odom was "happy, he was sleeping every night" while visiting, but two women went to check on Odom on Tuesday afternoon, after not hearing from him since early morning, and they found him face down and unconscious. When they turned him on his side at the direction of a 911 operator, Odom started "throwing up all kinds of stuff."

Hof said Odom had been taking herbal Viagra and had drunk part of a bottle of cognac since arriving,

....sounds like Lamar was "never much on thinking.....spent most of his time chasing women and drinking!"

If I had that kind of money I would definitely spend a healthy portion on drugs and women, that and a zeppelin. I don't see that as wasteful.

I don't pray because God isn't real, but I don't think it's that tough to pray for both if you do that sort of thing.
I noticed you capitalized god. Afraid of the repercussions if you don't capitalize it?

I would spend some on your mom..... Some seed that is

"God" is functioning as a proper noun in his sentence, so it should be capitalized.

Yeah, I typically capitalize God, just like I do the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

You are an absolutely abhorrent piece of garbage.

Kobe Bryant has not left LO's side since leaving his preseason game Tuesday night.

When he left here in 1999, I was just glad it was not to the Lakers. Anybody but tinsel town's team. Yet it was there that he put his selfless approach to the game to best advantage and it's greatest success. When he emerged as a leader for the Lakers, he filled the role perfectly. Selfless people with hearts of gold can have that kind of effect. The locker room of that team could not have been as tight without the glue that was LO. No surprise that Kobe has not left his side.

He was back here in the Fall of 2013, training for another shot. It was great to see how much he enjoyed being back here. But by then I knew it was a long shot. And I always worried cocaine was right there, ready to derail still another second chance. I pray now that he has a second chance at life itself. And if he survives, that there will still be some quality of life remaining. He's a good, good man. Nothing he's ever done will ever alter that fact. A heart of gold. Plenty of bad guys in this world, LO's one of the real good guys.

Some sources are reporting him "brain dead." Khloe may ultimately decide whether to pull the plug as his current legal spouse. Can't wait to watch that episode.
