While I love Miles and Cotrane and Bird and all of them, for my money, the best instrumentalist in Jazz is Sonny. He kept working on his art until he literally didn't have enough breath in his body to do it any more.

One of my favorite artists, the lead singer (and songwriter, basically he's the whole band), Ronan, despite being a goth/industrial icon, looks like the manager of a pub or grocery store.
