SAve the $79 and go to a place that has WiFi like Starbucks.
Or just use the lobby of the hotel.

How long have you been waiting for "the One"?
But that's the same as hanging out at the airport...
Coffee and snacks are likely cheaper.
Unless internet is needed, I'd just check my luggage with the bellman and find a nice comfy seat in the lobby. Probably will be able to find an outlet somewhere if needed. Personally, I'd recommend a trip to the old LA Forum. It's in a wonderful neighborhood.
BTW, there is a wonderful business near the airport that advertises "Live Nudes." My dad always used to laugh when we'd pass it on the way to drop him off for his flight. He'd always say, "as opposed to dead ones?"
Never said that.
But there's nothing wrong with helping out people in need, instead of giving it to the big corporates, I reckon. $79 is nothing to these big hotel chains, but it could make a world of difference to someone struggling to buy groceries or pay electric bill.
Usually cost is the overtime you are paying a GRA and most of them make about $20 an hour.
What hotel? Where?
Like someone else mentioned, most places will let you keep your room for a couple hours past checkout without an extra charge unless they're fully booked.
If it's a hotel that has a nice lobby area and business center you might consider hanging out there for a few hours rather than spending the extra money.
Its a Double Tree in LA.
Ahhhh, the one on Sepulveda Blvd. I know it well. Stereophile used to have it's yearly Audio shows there.
Anyway, I'm not sure why you just don't check out at the regular check out time and then go to a Starbucks or Coffee Bean?
It's a good option but I'm usually on the phone a lot. So the less noise the better.
