Lauri + Tank

Just a FYI.

If Kessler and Collins are traded to help the tank then Hardy may hurt the tank by having Lauri play center full time and Taylor helping on weak side defense. It may backfire and Lauri has bulked up heavily and might be able to handle the pounding and would punish centers with his offense and movement.

Lauri definitely isnt a starting center. It would be great if he could play 8 minutes a night of center and dominate though.

If Lauri bulks up so heavily that he can be decent defensively at 5 he will certainly lose enough of his "offense and movement". Because the laws of physics still apply.

I think there will be pressure to start winning and I think Lauri timeline increases that pressure. I think Lauri is here to stay and Ainge won't waste him.

Lauri just turned 27. This is usually the intersection of athletic prime and maturity (not quite prime, but where it's reached a high point) from your mid 20's to 30. Any year we spend not competing is a year of wasting Lauri.

Lauri is all-world now too? Lmao. Dude’s been a perpetual loser everywhere he’s been. Let’s call a spade a spade. We’re not talking one or two years here. We’re talking like what, seven?

The Spurs were so bad with Robinson, Elliot and Co. that they got the #1 pick. If they can, we can with Lauri and a cast of unproven misfits.
You are truly one of the dumbest people here. David Robinson played 6 games that year. Sean Elliot only played 39. Their leading scorer was Dominque Wilkins (who only played 63 games) in his 2nd to last season in the NBA.

Not a sure thing that it happens. I am just saying Lauri and Hardy could surprise us this season. It is not a strong possibility but if he could be decent defensively at the 5 (not likely) then the tank could be in trouble.

Well the excellent shot is still there and his great timing on cuts. But yeah maybe it diminishes his impact on offense. The dude has had a whole summer to gear up and prepare for this season. He might surprise us. I give it a low possibility but it could happen.

It is what I said it is.

The tank isnt happening if the team stays as it. A move has to be made to tank. Otherwise we are just going to get a repeat of the last two seasons with our core players being better.

I guess I can buy into the idea that both Clarkson and Keyonte will be significantly better than last season and that will drive more wins. Both were some of the worst players in the league for the amount of minutes they played. It's pretty difficult to be that bad 2 seasons in a row.

A simple shift of more minutes to Sexton will have an impact as well. I cannot believe Hardy only played Sexton 26.6 MPG lol. But the other side of that is that Sexton was injury free last year.

Especially if Sexton is let loose. Give him 30+ min a night and it's safe to assume he's improved since he works hard and improved a lot last year.
Agreed. Gotta keep him under 25 per game. (He was at 24 year 1 and 27 year 2 with the jazz)

I don't think you can do that. If he's playing well you can't just cut his minutes. If that's how you feel you need to trade him for his sake and the team tanking if that's the goal.

The FO is in charge of tanking. Players and coaching are not and should not, for multiple reasons.

One of Hardy's favorite mantras is no free minutes. I'm sure at some point the rookies will "earn" minutes, but they arent going to start the season splitting time evenly between Sexton and Collier. That would cause anarchy.

I agree. I wish we would make an exception this one time though. Pile up the fines for blatantly tanking this season

No one gives F about some fines, but if you do things you suggest them to do, you're going to crumble the morale and send this team into a very bad track. Either trade some guys or live with the 31-32 wins this team will get.

Agree to disagree

I’m dumb? What’s worse, forgetting a team lacked its best players and yet still managed 20 wins or consciously thinking a player who’s averaged about 35 wins per season over seven seasons is a major difference maker?

Or still worse…someone making 92 posts on a message board since yesterday morning?
