LDS Church fined for contributions to Prop 8!! HA!

The Church doesn't want any money from any gambling. I was just curious what you're thoughts are. I asked my dad about it yesterday (he's been a bishop twice {no, he's not Buttars}). He just thought about it for a second and said, "I don't know".

Say you were mormon contractor in Las Vegas. If you were offered a contract to repave the parking lot at the Bellagio, would you refuse? Would you accept, but not pay tithing on that money? What if you worked for a food service company (or any of the hundreds of vendors) that sold to casinos? What degree of separation is acceptable?

In my estimation (which means absolutely zilch to anyone but me) the church doesn't want tithes on money received directly from gambling. I don't see this being the case for Bean's wife.

Just find out what (estimate it if needed) % of the resort's profit comes from the casino and don't pay tithing on that amount. Donate it somewhere else instead.

I tend to agree with both your opinion and Bean paying tithing on it (heaven help me, I'm agreeing with Beantown). I would pay tithing on it as well.

Morman threads are incredibly interesting to read.

But I find myself torn for the most part. I mean, many of you are cool and I'd have a beer with, while on the other hand I consider you bat **** crazy.

Does it fluctuate currently with the Casino's revenue though or is just a stationary amount?

It fluctuate's slightly, we saw a little drop off with the economy going down but it stays pretty consistent.

Again, I believe the Millers and all Mormon restaurant owners pay tithing on the alcohol sales.

Just out of curiosity... if the Miller's ran a sex trading industry and paid tithing on its profits, would that make it OK for you and the rest of the LDS church to do the same?

Jesus Christ? Is it a fair assumption that EVERYTHING the Millers do is representative of how we should live our personal lives? or does Beantown need to go back and take a few more Primary lessons?

I don't think the Miller's actually make the money from the sale of beer at the ESA. Unless I'm mistaken, they just rent the space out to the people who sell the beer. So they would be paying tithing on the profit from the space rental. Could be wrong though.

Personally, I could care less where you get and what you all do with your blood money... you earned it, its yours to spend how you like. My point is that if you are trying to adhere to heavenly restrictions on how you spend it you should probably be looking for answers in places other than financial sheets of famous businessmen...

Even if this was true, wouldn't it just be a "loophole" situation?

Beantown is how I prefer my human beings: docile, unlearned, and non-intellectual. He'll be great sitting by my side in the celestial kingdom feeding me fruits.

Anyway, all this tithing stuff is negligible. Just as long as we keep the church's malls and various businesses well-financed, we're golden. Ideally, I'd like our total assets to exceed 100 billion by the 1st quarter of the 2020 fiscal year, but I know that's probably a bit too much to ask.

Yea because a sex trade industry is a legal business....you're a ginormous idiot.

I'll be honest, I don't think the church much cares where the tithing money comes from as long as it can say it doesn't want it from sources that are against its doctrine and is politically covered as a result. I mean, when's the last time you heard of the church auditing financial records and giving tithing back?
