I know it’s a somewhat unpopular opinion, but I think it’s time to move on from Favors. I don’t know that we really even need someone super talented at the four, but rather a specific skill set. I’ve said multiple times that if we had a guy who 1) could reasonably hit open threes 2) play decent D and 3) not be an atrocious rebounder, then that would make our team game a lot stronger than whatever talent the actual player brings (or lacks). Unfortunately, it’s easier to talk about those guys than land them, and there really aren’t any on the FA market. I’d be curious on the attainability of a few guys around the league.
Skal Labissiere:
Rumored they were going to waive him during the season. Very long and 6’11”. Great character from everything I know. Shot ok from deep through 2 years on limited attempts (35.6% 21/59). Good FT shooter. Is in a horrible franchise. Could pan out decent with us.
Aminu:
Not as strong of a rebounder. Really high playoffs 3P%. Great contract. Don’t see Portland having any motivation to move him unless we picked up some of their garbage.
Kelly Olynyk:
This would actually be a really smooth acquisition and great fit. Rumor was that we were high on Olynyk in 2013 before moving up for Burke. He played the 4 this year next to Whiteside. He would bring some nasty and could help complete our “Hayward-collateral big 3.” Imagine putting Crowder, Jerebko, and Olynyk all on the floor in Boston when Hayward plays.
He shot 37.9% from deep on 3.7 attempts this season. He’s a career 37.1% three point shooter. Great passer, averaging 4.2 assists per 36.

Like 80% of his threes are above the break (eyeballing).
He signed with Miami last summer and has 2 more years plus a player option. It’s about $11.5M each. Pretty good value contract, so I don’t know what it would take to get him, but Miami is in cap hell and we don’t have much to offer besides an expiring Burks and some minor assets. Maybe we could trade all our second round picks for the next few years if we won’t use them.
