Lindsey Pushing For More Corner 3's

I agree. In fact, I think I wrote basically the same thing earlier in this thread.

Way to make me look even smarter than I already look.

Yup
iaw both of you

Did any of you listen to the interview? Lindsey went on and on about Ty and the things he's doing to help the players develop both on and off the floor.

Ty isn't going anywhere, and I'm glad. He's just like the players, he has potential and just needs to develop.

Lol.

Orange is probably going to hate me for this, as it doesn't make him look any smarter, but isn't this how everyone here feels?

Still think your smart:)

Does he, though?

Does he, though?

This. I'm FAR from convinced.
Besides, the FO HAS to support him or the players will smell blood in the water and he'd have no chance. I think what Dennis said was PERFECT.
I think he said the FO supports Ty 100%.. but he, like the players, has a lot of work to do and it's up to him to do it.

I can't say that I've ever seen Ty take a chance. He's always playing it safe. I've never seen any great strategic moves he's made. I haven't even seen him put a team on the floor prepared for the most basic situations that need to be exploited.

I gave Corbin a long, long, long grace period. I'm a sucker so I'm holding out hope he'll be someone this year he hasn't been the last several seasons, but that's based purely on hope and desire. Nothing I've seen would lead me to believe Ty is even a good coach, not even considering he's got anything special to offer.

Ummmm..... ya pretty much

.

and if that is what the FO thinks doing a great job is we are in trouble. I'm sure there's somewhat of a front being put up, but I do get the feeling they like him.

I wonder what they see behind closed doors that has them so enamored with him?

Maybe his nickname is Ty "Kneepads" Corbin.

This year will be easier than last year for Corbin. All NBA thinks we are gonna be sucking all year with the mixture roster of inexperienced youngsters and washed up vets. So no pressure, no concern to win. All he needs to do is, to be a mentor for youngsters and let them play with bravery and smartness.
I disagree. Just because the expectations aren't high as far as win total is concerned, this will be Corbins 4th season as a head coach, he better show some sort of improvement. If he pulls Favors out after the 3rd quarter with a 20-20 game going or has Kanter/Burks sitting on the bench for a month stretch while Jefferson and Biedrins take all of the playing time, then it should be quite clear that this jackass never has and never will have the chops to be a head coach in the NBA. If we're losing games because our depth is not great, and our young players are being outsmarted by savvy veterans, that's fine with me, but if we're blowing leads and losing games because Corbin is being outcoached in the final minutes of a game or making stupid player substitutions, I'm not cool with that.

Favors' 23 pt game gets a lot of publicity around here. What I don't get is that Jefferson got killed for being inefficient on the offensive side of the ball, yet Favors gets pimped like he is the next Wilt for having 23 points on 20 shots...

This is good news for Brandon Rush - his last full season he shot about 100 corner 3's and was well over 40% from both corners. Richard Jefferson has also taken the majority of this threes from the corners.

Hayward is very solid from the right corner but has not taken many shots in that area - I've always noticed that for some reason his form is a little shaky when he shoots corner 3's. He seems to be a lot more fluid when he shoots from the left or right wing.

Wasn't just the 23 pts.... he had 23 and 17 in 3 quarters with good defense as well.
Al would get 23 points on 25 shots with 9 rebounds and horrible defense.

Oh ya and al is like a 28 year old veteran while favors was 21 years old with very little experience.

Oh and jeffy is known for his amazing offensive skills, favors not so much

If Al had played defense like Favors, I'm sure we wouldn't have killed him for his offensive inefficiency. But when the offense is the only thing he contributes, he'd better be efficient at it!!

Green, I usually agree and like reading your posts...this is not one of them.

I am.

This roster needs a coach that can take the strengths of the players and maximize them while limiting the weaknesses as much as possible. There is a lot of potential on this team.

My problem is that Corbin is not an X's and O's coach. I think Corbin makes a great assistant but doesn't have the creative mind to be a Head Coach.

Yup, and this thread about proves it. Shouldn't the HC be good enough to realize the value of the corner 3 and not have to be told by the GM? I think so, but then I expect a lot out of a guy who is supposed to be at the highest level and gets paid millions to be there.

I would not say that I am cool with it but now is the time to find out. This season is going to be rough anyways. The evaluation of Corbin and his future with the Jazz should be made this season as well. It needs to be based on more than the win/loss record but him getting routinely out coached in tight games would not be good for him.
