I see updates on the lockout and think "these rich ****s are fighting over my money and don't give two ****s about me". I have better use for my money and each day I'm much closer to telling them to go **** themselves. I didn't see the last month of the season and don't feel like I missed anything.

...I, for one....will be extremely disappointed if this lockout doesn't last a whole year! I think NBA players are the most overpaid prim a-donna's in sports history and don't deserve half of what they are currently making now! But then, all of you knew that already...that is my viewpoint and opinion on the current CBA/lockout!

Just another thought on what I'd hope to see if a deal gets struck:
It seems unlikely that there will be as hard a cap as some of the small-market teams would like. It also seems highly possible that BRI will be tied to a range rather than a single number. If that's so I'd hope to see this extra part of the salaries that goes into the range tied to (instead of a proportion based on the current contract of each individual player) a proportion calculated by something like:
production measure (such as PER, or perhaps win wages)
plus
adjusted +/- (to reward winning team play)
multiplied by
some factor based on minutes played (to reward players the coaches end up trusting -- I'd not make it a 1:1 ratio, as that's probably unfair to those on better teams, and I might even make it asymptotic for 0-8 minutes per game and 32+ minutes per game, so as not to punish players on teams who have different garbage-time playing philosophies and not to overly reward overwork)
This band-range salary might be around 7-10% of a salaries. While tying this band range to performance wouldn't solve all problems, it would at least give some additional incentive for players not only to produce numbers, but to produce wins for the team. It would reward those who perform the best, regardless of initial contracts.

Despite being a relatively frequent user of such metrics as +/-, I would not support them being used as conditions for individual contracts.
There is already a metric in place: wins--and how much a player contributed to those. Conditions like the ones you propose further complicate contracts and might cause players to focus further on individual statistics.
Shorter maximum contract terms possibly incentivise players to play harder, but it also can have them focus more heavily on individual production. The astute coaches and GMs see though the self-serving production and identify how player contribute to the team's success on the court, whether that team success correlates with the player's individual performance or not.

That sounds like a deal. Maybe they have system stuff worked out but they don't want to proceed on the BRI split until their expert is in the room. You know, the guy who's going to get them that extra .324334256345346345 percent which is FAIR. Not the straight .32 that the owners would agree on right now.
