I saw the film The Road to Eldorado, okay?

The movie "Eldorado", starring John Wayne is about as close to streets of gold as I believe really exists anywhere. . . ..

why use gold to pave streets??? glass/ceramic/stone work pretty good. Lighter and easier to clean. But in my paradise I'll use some real hardwood, and have my houseboys use those coconut husks and the red wax on them. Perfect. The Gods would covet that.

"Thou shall not covet thy neighbors hardwood"

I like this song, too.

A shame to stop short of 3600.

guess you youngsters don't even know who Maureen O'Hara is, let alone consider her the classic redhead lady. I think there were songs written just about her. . . . something like "lady in red":

but, seriously. . . .

my sunday school lesson today was about idolatry. And like most truly wonderful things in life that we could go wild about, it is a shame to move God off the stage and just rave about other people/stuff. well maybe better expressed as "about stuffed people", consider the essence of the spirit that is given to support life in this frame of existence.

Jesus said " I am the way, the truth, and the life".

did I misquote Him above when I said "the way, the truth, and the light". Well, He is the "light" as well. According to the conception of many Christians, the indwelling of the spirit of the Lord is what leads a "saved" person to act in the way the Lord would. Some say Christ lives through the deeds of the saved who are sometimes actuated by that indwelling spirit. "Come into my heart Lord Jesus". Without that spirit we are not saved souls. Only God can heal us and bring us into a better way of life.

That is the one essential truth that pertains to all mankind, and it goes together with the concept that Jesus is the Way, and the Life. Or Light. Jesus is the one fundamental truth of our existence.

so I come back to my challenge for One Brow, as to what distinction makes a person alive, or dead. Is it just chemistry, or is there indeed something else that is fundamental to our existence as living, intelligent humans.

there are many cases of people who have had, to all our science and observation, no reason to be dead except. . . . well, they're dead. Something besides respiration, brain activity, and intact organs in a state of competent organization and function to continue to function.

And just as well, there are many cases of people who have been maintained artificially with one or more organs not functioning. . . . including "brain dead' folks whose peripheral nerve centers and brain stem maintain the necessary vital functions. . . .uhh... well, with the help of nurses changing the bedpans and feeding tubes I suppose.

the fundamental definition of life demands intelligent, coherent, and responsible people to recognize what life is. And legal definitions that protect life as well.

The right to life of a human being is the only foundation upon which any government can have any legitimacy. And some other corollary rights must be attached to being a living person as well.

The things that a living human being may choose to use, or act upon, in pursuing "life, liberty or happiness" surely includes rights to privacy, belief, choosing representatives for necessary government and such. . . . meaningful representation, not lying deceivers who are pretending to serve us while actually serving other interests.

All human history, with significant but uncommon exceptions, has been governments which have had no accountability to the people they rule. It is and will be the same regime under United Nations programs associated with "The New World Order". There are no innate or natural human rights recognized by the United Nations, only some blandishments the organizational people have deigned to permit the governed. Clearly, it is the agenda of the United Nations to disarm all people all around the world, and permit only their own negotiated actors to possess the means to preserve life or property against any threat.

It has always required the exceptional determination of any group of people to protect themselves from the encroachments and threats of others. . . . the willingness to fight for your own life.

Thanks and what a great subject for today's lesson. I think we all need to be reminded from time to time to stay true to our spouse.

"Rebel Yell" and "Eyes Without a Face" were ok, but IMO, Billy was certainly not good enough to bump The Almighty off the stage. Maybe other rockers were more worthy of our worship, however.

well, I can't speak to the youngblood rage anymore. Probably something to do with testosterone or some other mind-altering substance. But I appreciate your effort to understand what I'm trying to talk about.

God knows the truth.

I'm dedicating this page to this statement by PKM. . . . and maybe responding as well to Spazz for calling me a chicken**** cya guy on my doctrinal flight in "Brighamite" godhead concepts.

God indeed knows the truth. Solid self-awareness, objective self appraisals ongoing, and in fact being so compactly coherent in every aspect of His person, He probably hasn't woken up once in the last six thousand years with any doubts about Himself at all.

A lot of critics of Mormonism have never understood why a Mormon can believe in God the way Brigham Young did. Brigham Young was a Methodist of some learning, and made the observation from his experience that he never met anyone who could answer his questions about God until Joseph Smith did.

Sydney Rigdon was a proto-Baptist minister with strong Trinitarian notions, who gave way as well when Joseph Smith published his account of meeting the Jehovah of the Old Testament and His Son Jesus, the promised Messiah and our Saviour.

There are many instances of where Sydney Rigdon and many others changed their views. . . . every person associated with the early testimonies concerning the Book of Mormon, and every person close enough to Joseph Smith to be aware of his comings and goings. ... everyone gave way when the Prophet Joseph explained it to them, who had anything to do with the early Mormon history.

General Authorities of the LDS Church will dodge the question and profess actual ignorance of who God is, unless they somehow have a faint grasp of the notion that we have a Heavenly Father and a Saviour. They might not think the details of the scripture are as accurate as their own notions, or they may just want to be easily understandable to the general public. Not many of the current staff have related personal experience as Joseph Smith did.

But Joseph Smith was right. Joseph Smith knew who God is, and who our Saviour is.
