Looking at the Rotation and a couple of questions

If Exum could stay healthy it would really help us manage Mike and Joe... when/if he gets hurt the. We get thin there... hopefully Mudiay is working his *** off to be ready... there will certainly be opportunity for him at some point.
DM can play the point and frankly should do more of that. I still feel like that’s ultimately where he could and should end up.

According to Tony Jones in one of his most recent articles on The Athletic the Jazz have 3 options for the starting power forward that they are still considering:

"How do the Jazz work in Green?

There are two ways.

One is to start him. He’s not expected to play closing minutes, but he can certainly be a starter for about 20 minutes a night. For comparison, Green played 27 minutes a game last season for the Wizards. Two years ago with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he played 23 minutes a night and was terrific in the postseason as the Cavs went to the NBA Finals. Green can play with the starters while Joe Ingles becomes a sixth man, which leads to Ingles and Bogdanovic playing together in closing lineups. The advantage to that? It puts a bit more athleticism on the floor with the starting unit and gives the Jazz a natural matchup when they face some of the more difficult forwards in the NBA.

The second: Don’t start him. Bring him off the bench in the manner Quin Snyder did with Crowder, around the midway point of the first quarter, and then allow him to play with the second unit at the beginning of the second quarter. It keeps Ingles — whom the Jazz love — in the starting lineup, pushing Bogdanovic to power forward. It gives the Jazz a ton of shooting around Gobert, making any pick-and-roll he’s involved in theoretically difficult to guard. Snyder would need to stagger substitutions in order to prevent Bogdanovic or Ingles from wearing down, but Green’s presence certainly softens the defensive load.

Orrrrrr … the Jazz could start Royce O’Neale at power forward, bringing Ingles and Green off the bench. Word around the franchise is O’Neale has been impressive in his summer work. He’s Utah’s best perimeter defender and has emerged as one of the better wing defenders in the league. O’Neale shot 38.6 percent from 3-point range last season and performed very well in the playoffs. He’s a guy the Jazz think can have a breakout year."

I don't mind O'Neale as a 5th starter. His improvement as a shooter has been pretty amazing. What I like about him is that he can play fast. That's something that Ingles struggles with.

Right... it just creates potential holes elsewhere... depends on who else is healthy too. If it is just Exum out... then we can cover pretty easily. If he's out for like 40-50 games then we need to add someone that can play. Mudiay could be that guy.

Jeremy Lin on a minimum.

Jeremy Lin on a minimum.

Maybe. He might find a better backup job somewhere. Could add some punch off the bench although he was trash for Toronto.

Green is older. Let him start, use up his energy against opposing 4s until he is gassed (~20 min), then close with Bogey.

Bogey is strong enough to close at the 4 and be effective defensively. Pairing him with Ingles to close out games makes us unstoppable offensively, so do that.

I'm either for this, or for Royce starting at 4. Bogey and Ingles definitely close games, doe.

I know his college coach who went on to coach in the NBA considers Georges his favorite player -- at any level. Hard worker, great attitude, gym rat constantly looking to improve. His coach's opinion holds a lot of sway with me.
I’m sold on him as a regular season contributor. He’s consistently improved every since he was drafted. I need to see more before I’d trust him completely in the playoff rotation, but he should get a solid chance to carve out a significant role this season. We’ll see what he makes of it.

I think Royce makes a jump this year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him start as a 3/4 with Bogdanovic and have Jingles come in off the bench with the second unit.

I think Conley, Gobert, and Ingles will definitely be managed.

I'm not so sure how exactly we could manage Gobert, tho. Opposition quality should be really lame, or if we decided to punt some game. Could see we let some guys get rest games at the end of regular season depending on how early we consolidate our spot and how much we'll have to fight for the highest seedings.

I'm not sold on Niang but the coaches and front office appear to be.

I am with you on this one. If he is a regular in our rotation it does not bod well. Good teammate and good guy to have in specific situations but not a regular rotation guy. As for the PG position, DM is our insurance if someone gets hurt. We have plenty of depth in that position. Go get another big.
