This isn't about becoming great by getting a late lottery pick. It's about improving the team by adding an asset at a time that maximizes it's value to our rebuild. I would never suggest losing on purpose. That should NEVER be an option. However, if our coaching staff just happened to decide that this would be good game to rest up certain players more than usual, and give other guys more minutes than usual, I think that would have been an absolutely FANTASTIC decision.
Here's a list of teams that have improved at some point by adding an asset at the right time.
Boston Celtics
New Jersey Nets
New York Knicks
Philadelphia 76ers
Toronto Raptors
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
Memphis Grizzlies
New Orleans Hornets
San Antonio Spurs
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Detroit Pistons
Indiana Pacers
Milwaukee Bucks
Denver Nuggets
Minnesota Timberwolves
Portland Trail Blazers
Oklahoma City Thunder
Utah Jazz
Atlanta Hawks
Charlotte Bobcats
Miami Heat
Orlando Magic
Washington Wizards
Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings
If you were serious you would have given examples. NY tanked like ******** to get Ewing. And it worked, except the ring part. Same for Cleveland with LeBruh. At least NY got a guy that gave his all for his city his whole career besides a couple at the very end.
Every year teams tank. This year is an unreal demonstration of tank fever. It's ridiculous to believe that Utah could have out-tanked any of the mega tankers. What would KOC do, shut down Al? According to a lot of you that would result in more wins.
Utah does not tank. Utah also has never fired a coach. Ever.
I do not know how Freak expects the team to tank from this position. To me, It's a lot easier to wish losses as a fan than to actually lose as a player. And as a fan I want to win. That's just me.
