Lottery Standings

just your opinion, doesn't prove they didn't tank some to help them get a better pick...
how do you know that there were not other teams also trying to tank that year, but the Spurs tried harder to tank better and lose to them ?

Popovitch just played the Jazz without his 3 best players, because he thought it was in his teams best interest.

if he is capable of that, what in the world makes you think he wouldn't have tanked some games in 97 to help get a better pick?

Good win by Philly over Toronto. Cleveland pushing the Pacers to overtime....

Edit: Pacers get the win over the Cavs.

Carry on.

I can't see the Raptors or Cavs catching up. We just need for Detroit and NJN to remember who they are.

I still think the Pistons will pass GSW even without Stuckey. A winnable game tonight on the road in Portland would give GS a two game edge.

I think we're starting to see the teams in the 5-8 range start to tank as well. GS well could win another game or two and if they do they just might hold on. I'm feeling better about the pick than I have in a while.

GS needs to win tonight. Aldridge is not playing. He might be out for the rest of the year so if GS wins tonight they are only two back of the Blazers and two games ahead of NJ and Detroit.

Yep, very winnable game for GS with Aldridge out. But they'll find a way to be down 20 pts by half-time.
Good night with Cleveland, Toronto and Sacramento all losing.

Minnesota loses again. Don't really expect them to catch GS, because they are 3 games up in the win column, but they are on a monumental skid.

Warriors have 11 assist on 18 FG's. They are playing pretty good, just have to cut down on their TO's and they can win.

The San Antonio Spurs are a perfect example. They did not tank on purpose, but they lost David Robinson for a season to injury. The result was them falling into the lottery, drafting Tim Duncan, and winning a bunch of titles. That being said, I don't want the Jazz to tank. I think there is a difference between losing while trying to win (what the Spurs season was), and intentionally tanking.

That being said, I can't imagine that most of the players on Golden State would want to tank. Job security if they don't have a draft pick :)
The Spurs are not a perfect example. Not even close. They got a number one pick. There is almost no chance that the Jazz get the number one pick.

Signs that Portland and Golden State really don't care:
Down the stretch of a close game...zero timeouts.

Signs that GS cares even less:
Nate Robinson is in the game and calling his own number for a contested jumper.
Portland gets rebound up 4 points with 33 seconds left, and Golden State doesn't foul. Would have let the clock run down to 9 seconds left, but instead gave up a three.

Typical. Anyway, at least the Kings lost one of their remaining winnable games tonight to the Hornets. Losers of 7 straight. So that's good news I guess. Remaining winnable games: 2. That doesn't take into account which team might rest their starters at the end of the season. This really could be a a close call for us.
