Lyles is the pick at 12

Does anybody feel better about the pick after the interview? DL gave offered some good insight as to why he decided to go for Lyles. Versatility, good handles for a guy his size, can defend the 3, good form when shooting...
To all the downers about this pick, let's wait until we see him action shall we?

I like this highlight vid because it's from only one game. Worth a watch.

Good highlights, this player has 'insurance' written all over him. The kind of player every team would love to have to fill out gaps and keep the productivity level up, a Spur-ish pick if I may.

I feel better about it today than yesterday. Not sure if it was due to some cognitive bias I am experiencing or due to something else I've heard and seen from our FO in the last 24 hours.

For me, I'm concerned with Lyles' defense - mainly because I was hoping for Turner or WCS had we drafted a big and those two are defensive stoppers. Lyles should be quick enough and long enough to guard a 4 but it's tough to tell since he mainly guarded college SFs.

I think the stupid NBADRAFT.NET Boozer comparison is what scares a lot of people - Lyles can't be that bad on the defensive end and if he is I would be unhappy.
I think they are talking about his offensive skill set when they use the Boozer comp. Not necessarily his defense.

It's that seven stages thing. A good night's sleep can get you through the first 4 and you wake up in a better mood and proceed to the acceptance and hope stage.

Still so happy about the Lyles pick and for once the Jazz picked my guy. There is no doubt in my mind he will be good. So much loving the prospects of watching a three man rotation of Gobert Favors and Lyles. They will put the league on notice. As some have alluded to him being soft or shy. Just watching his interviews. I'm not sure this is the case. I do see some Duncan in his personality. Not saying his game compares just personality.

Suns fans are luke warm on the Devin Booker pick. A lot of them are disappointed that they didn't draft a big.

That makes sense because they don't have great bigs. Kind of how we don't have great 3 point shooters. Luckily, Lyles hit 25 for 40 being guarded by Casper at a workout!!

I think Lyles is much more fluid and a better athlete than Boozer. Lyles isn't explosive but he seems to have good court awareness and he has a quicker reaction time than Boozer (and a higher basketball IQ). I am slowly warming up to Lyles but a lot of it depends on his defense and how consistent his jumper and three point shot is. I already know he's going to be a solid passer, get a decent amount of offensive rebounds and get easy points in transition.

What kind of career does Trey Lyles project to have?

Kevin Pelton (1:26 PM)
I think he will become a solid third big man, which is precisely what the Jazz drafted him to be

Which positions can Trey Lyles play in the NBA?

Kevin Pelton (2:53 PM)
At this point, he's probably exclusively a 4, which is fine with Derrick Favors' ability to play the 5.
