What's new

Marcus Morris - other power forwards.

Kenneth Faried.

I actually like this a lot. He did not look cooked last year. Was pretty damn solid iirc. Good numbers in China this year like you mentioned in another post.

Not sure what the restrictions are monetarily so far as being able to sign him though. Or if we even have a roster spot to do so or would have to dump someone to another team.

But I’m down for this. We need a better backup 5 and more importantly need toughness and leadership.

I'm pretty sure he's injured because I can't find a reason why he was released from his Chinese team.

His numbers, while starting for Houston last year, make it really surprising he's not on an NBA roster - I'm surprised Donatas isn't in the NBA either ttytt. There must be either injuries, work ethic, attitude, or something, apparently, I'm missing.

I’m also thinking the Rox or Lakers or Clips sign him. These guys pick and choose where they want to go, generally.

We will be sellers, obviously. Morris and Taj Gibson (maybe Portis) are the only ones you Jazz would want.

Morris said it again last night how he DOES NOT want to be moved from New York. He has taken well to basketball here and the fans have taken to him. Think about the commitment he is showing to a team that is 6-21. I told you he was nuts, but that kind of nuts is admirable. He's a head case and does his own thing his ways (look at what he pulled with the Spurs over the summer). But the main thing is that he is playing extremely well (he torched the very strong defensively Nuggets last night). You Jazz will have to break the bank to get him. You willing to do that? He ain't going for no bench-riders or injured players.

I think the Jazz could get Portis. He's partially guaranteed next year. He'd give us some size, some rebounding and some crazy. He's shooting okay. Portis or Young should be attainable.

Sabonis won’t work because the parameters of the trade are all screwy with his extension. The team trading for him will have to swallow is average salary for the extension about 18 mil plus the current 3 mil he makes while only sending over about 4.5 mil tops based off trade rules.

The only way to make a Sabonis deal work is to include a third team with current cap space and a mid sized trade exception like Atlanta and then indy would still have to add more players to the trade to reach an outgoing 10 mil so that they can receive back 15 mil from Atlanta who could then receive back 20 mil from the jazz matching the weird trad scenario whil Atlanta’s trade exception would cove indy’s extra outgoing 7 mil. Such a crazy scenario that Sabonis won’t be traded this year. He is bad *** though.
