Memo to players complaining about minutes: Shut Your Mouth!

Numberica is selective. He can't admit he made a mistake.

Dude, I started the thread. I know what it is about. Did you read the OP? Was it just about Deron? Answer the question, big boy.

Nice try for a recovery though, num num head.

Here's the ORIGINAL POST.

Ok, so LeBron is calling out the Heat coach Eric Spoelstra about playing too many minutes. He played 44 and DWade played 40. Jim Rome made an excellent point in saying what super star tells their coach they're playing them too many minutes while they're in their prime? Michael Jordan? No. Karl Malone? Hell no. I was so annoyed when I heard this. Paul Millsap wouldn't never say this and no one on the Jazz would, right? WRONG!!!! I was listening to DJ and PK this morning and they were on the phone with Locke. Locke was talking about the back up PG situation and Deron getting too many minutes. Deron told Locke that he was getting too many minutes and Sloan better figure something out soon.

I know the NBA schedule is brutal and I'm amazed players can play a full season, but don't complain about too many minutes while you're in your prime. That's something I would expect from some ***** like AK or Tracy McGrady. Man up and play. Hell, KD plays pretty much the whole game every game.

You have a really bad memory.

I may have a bad memory, but you're dumb as hell.

Hold up, so because you talk about Lebron James and Deron Williams, it means you're not talking about Deron Williams?

I'm talking about any player who tells his coach not to play him so many minutes as discussed in this thread. I heard Deron was one of them.

:/

It seems like you're the one modifying your argument here, but whatever.

It's in no one's best interest long-term for the team's best player to play 40+ MPG. Whether that's Durant saying it (and he did), Lebron, or Deron, they're just speaking the truth. It's bad for the team and bad for the player to play that much, I can't believe anyone would believe otherwise. I'm not surprised Jim Rome has the stance that he does, he's a sports radio shock jock. I enjoy his show, but not for his awesome insight, I enjoy it to get laughs and some interviews.

Actually Deron has mentioned to the press, maybe after last season, that he thought his minutes were too high. When we factor in that he guides the entire ball club, often taking on much of the scoring burden as the Jazz are not a good jump shooting team, especially w/o Okur, I have to agree with him. As good a PG as he is, he is still not a superstar athlete like Jordan or even Lebron or Dwade. Quite simply, he wears down over a long season of too many minutes when the playoffs start.
No way he'd be in Sloan's face about it, though...

40 minutes of game time with regular breaks doesn't seem that much to me.

Most athletes' workouts are tougher than that....or should be.

There's a huge difference in resting an old player and resting a player who's in his prime. The point is, if a coach wants you play the minutes, you play the minutes and you don't call him out.

You're right. That was an older Spurs team. That doesn't mean every team does not need to do this. Managing health is just one faction of a coach's job. As easy as it looks, going all out every play during a 48 minute game is hard work. The inside guys bang especially hard day-in day-out. Bodies take a toll.

As has been said already, these players may not have been calling any coach out. Given it has become a politically correct interview process, I'd guess after 7-8 games these players are simply saying what is on everyone's mind. They're simply an extension of coach's sentiments.

Everything has to be a controversy these days.

What's the over/under in days before Pat Riley takes over as head coach of The Heat?

I'm going with 45 days.

It appears just about everyone in this thread is ****ing retarded. I'm not even sure where to start with the idiocy on this.

Seriously though, who the hell does Deron think he is? If I were getting paid millions of dollars to play basketball, I would play 80 minutes a game, 8 days a week, and then mow the lawn every day when I got home.

I think it's fair to say that most of us know more than our star player when it comes to what's in Utah's best interest. Let's face it, Deron is a sissy and he should be traded.

I think it's funny how worked up people get over innocent comments that players make. Every comment I've read about players talking about their minutes has been something to the effect of "Yeah, it's pretty tiring playing so many minutes, but oh well". Yeah, something really worth ******** your pants over there. Somebody mentioning that things haven't been perfectly ideal, let's crucify them now before they say something even more damning, like they'd rather have 70 degree, sunny weather every day.
