The only time Derron is going to come back to Utah is to smoke us at the Energy Solutions Arena and that's it.

I have no doubt that Duron will have some great games in SLC against us.

The problem is, who does Duron have to help him out? the Nets suck. Duron could go for 82 and still lose as I'm confident that Hayward, Harris, Burks, Kanter, Millsap, Jefferson, and Favors can outscore him.

the other positive we have? We no longer have Memo, Booz, AK, and Duron to stand around and not play defense. No longer do we have a point that will lay on the ground on one end of the court yelling at the refs while his man goes coast to coast for a layup.

Folks, Duron wasn't taking us anywhere. We didn't want to be held hostage by an egomaniac. We pulled the trigger and gave ourselves a chance to rebuild for a championship.

No other team in the league would give up Kanter, Favors, Harris, and a future pick for Duron. KOC is a genius, even if this all doesn't translate to a championship. We avoided what would have been a very negative, frustrating, and ultimately, long term rebuilding project with a huge prick.

I realize that Deron has been a prick and all that but that doesnt mean there are no teams out there that want to contend and win NOW and are just a good PG short, who wouldnt give up future picks, even if good ones, for Deron. For all their potential Favors and Kanter still have a lot of questions to answer. They are'nt quite a sure thing-like say, a Durant or Lebron or a John Wall coming into the draft. They can end up being great or end up being just serviceable starters at best. A team that wants to win now and needs a good PG to get the job done can do the above trade. Whereas for us, this trade wont make sense, as we need all the draft picks we can get, and not Deron.

Do you really expect us to get a LeBron/Durant/Wall type of player out of picks from a team who is just a player away from being a championship contending team? We could not have landed a better haul than what we got, especially on such short notice. KOC deserves a gold star for this one. Anytime you trade for players with potential or picks there's going to be a lot of questions to answer, so getting back-to-back #3 picks, another potential lottery pick, and a more than serviceable point guard in the process is the ABSOLUTE best we could have asked for.

Marketability. The Nets are moving to Brooklyn and don't want to be a side show to the Knicks. They're not going to sell many season tickets with Brook Lopez as the face of their team. Deron can do that for them, as well as give them a shot at getting Dwight Howard. Only time will tell on this trade.

Exactly. The Knicks trading for Carmelo made a blockbuster trade for NJ almost essential. The Nets have some decent talent. A healthy DWIll, along with the continued progression of Lopez (and even Humphries) gets them to almost .500. Prokhorov isn't willing to wait to build a winner. The Nest will go after big-name FA's. If DWill remains and that results in the Nets being able to attract another star player, then it was a good deal for them.

Bottom line is that the stars really aligned for Utah, and to their credit, they took full advantage. With Derron's bad attitude plus an injury and the looming lockout uncertainties it was a miracle that KOC could leverage the Nets for so much. Genius move on the Jazz's part! KOC is looking like a fantastic negotiator... especially if reports are correct that Gayle Miller demanded that DWill be traded no matter what.

With the way the NBA was set up, the best way to win a title is not through the draft. The best way to win a title is to get in a big market, and then go way over the luxury tax paying for superstars. The Nets have their market, Brooklyn, and they needed their superstar to lure others to NY. They tried to get LeBron, Boozer, Bosh, etc and failed. No one wants to be the first person to sign up, in case they get burned. So, they traded away their future for Deron. It doesn't matter anyways, because they never planned to use those picks. They want Howard and someone else to join Deron in NY.

They would have still done it for sure. Dwill gives them a franchise building block and somebody who could attract a big time FA, along with their soon to be prime location.
