What's new

MIL Bucks @ YOUR Utah Jazz.. tonight at 7pm mtn on ROOT

Burke has played his *** off, taken a demotion, and only gotten better. Still a long way to go, but even the biggest haters have to admit he's improved lately.

definitely
Without him we would not be winning these games. We need his offense...... desperately

Jimmer was the best college player too

Adam morrison says hello

Because he has not shown that he can consistently play at a high level.

Trey played in the toughest conference at the time. While Jimmer and Adam didn't. Which is completely beside my point. If Jimmer and Adam was in Trey's position of being a young player showing plenty of flashes I would be saying the exact samething about either.

We know he hasn't, but how many second year pg's are playing at a consistent level? Especially now with the position being about as deep as it ever been in the history of the league? His situation with the team hasn't been consistent it's not realistic to expect his play to do so with so little experience.

Good rebuttal

Exum is next level timid though. It's truly historical his lack of FT attempts despite minutes played.

I hear you, Cy, but honestly, I'd take timid and smart over aggressive and stupid for a rookie 9 times out of 10. He's also deeply unselfish. I'm confident that as he gains strength and the game slows down that he's going to realize how to use his incredible physical talents.

Frankly, I'd rather have an unselfish player lacking confidence than a selfish player with confidence in abundance but without the talent to back it up (see Miles, C.J.)

I'll also be the first to call myself an idiot if two years from now Exum isn't dominating. But I still think he will be. Intelligence matters a lot and Exum has it in spades.

It isn't like his overall game is timid either - his defense is anything but. That suggests to me that it isn't about an overall mindset as much as it is about confidence that is tied to where his body is at the moment. Next year will be key - I'm expecting him to have a summer of exponential growth - on his game and on his body, now that he knows what to expect and has the talented coaching staff of the Jazz helping him to set specific goals and benchmarks.

But we'll see - call me out next fall if this isn't the case.

You don't think the serious jump in competition has a lot to do with that?
.
Can anybody name another player that came from a foreign high school system straight to the NBA? Most of the guys coming from Europe have played professionally for 2-3 years before coming to the NBA. Simply put I'm not sure there has ever been a situation like Dante's before.

Did Enes ever really play professionally in Europe? Maybe a handful at most (which kept him off the UK team)

I still think Exum was the right pick. We have to swing for the fences to try to get stars from the draft.

I agree it was the right pick at the time. He fell to us and was the consensus bpa by all the experts.

But those same haters don't admit that Exum is so far 10 times mor worse than Burke has been.

Burke is a bit underrated at this point.

And he was terrible his 1st year and has shown great growth. But even Enes was with a college team. I don't know if he practiced or not did not keep up with him there but he was with a college team for a year before being drafted. I also think it's a lot different for a PG. But Enes is a fair comparison and he was terrible his 1st year.
