Minnesota finalizing 2 year $20MM deal with AK - per Y!Woj

If my boss and my coworkers treated me like ****, I'm pretty sure I'd do the least amount of work possible.

So if you were the highest paid employee at your company and you felt like you weren't being babied enough, you would just shut down and stop working hard like a little bitch?

Wow, the same people STILL hang on AK's sack.
He was in my mind, the year before his max deal with us, going to be one of the top 5-10 players in the league based on talent. I was so on the bandwagon. Never came close, not close.
Blame whoever you want, but in the end, it is on AK...he had the tools, just not the work ethic or mental toughness, cuz the talent was there.
Blame Sloan, blame DWill if you want, its on AK. Paying him 10 mil at this point reeks of desperation, so the Wolves doing it makes sense. I did used to like AK, and I kind of want him to succeed even still, but God, what a whiney, excuse making so called star he was.

If my bosses paid me $14-$17M per year - more than anyone else in the company, even those who were working harder and producing more, I'd wash their feet and shine their shoes.

I guess you guys missed the part about not bothering with your stupid responses, but this surprises me very little.

If I'm the most talented and marketable person, along with being the highest paid employee at my company, and I'm making more than my manager, his manager, his manager and the main manager, yet all of these lower paid people treat me like I'm worthless, talk down to me, talk poorly about me to the media -- who then reports it to the morons that slurp that kind of reporting up -- who don't use me and my skill set in the best way possible -- which makes my value to other companies drop considerably -- then you better believe that I won't be giving 100% of my effort. Not to mention that my coworkers also talk poorly about me, throw pouting temper tantrums on national TV because they're privileged and entitled *** heads. Have you ever had coworkers or a boss that was a **** head? Did you work you butt off just to "show him!"? No, you didn't, and it's absolute foolishness to expect anyone to do that.

Sometimes I want to just reach out and slap some of you tards.

Now imagine situation like that. You are top level microsurgeon who does heart transplants and so on... you paid top salary in hospital but after couple years your boss, says hey we will pay you same but now you go work as assistant to entry level surgeon...Would be working as hard as before and not sulking?

If I kept working my *** off and outperforming everyone else and after a couple years nobody took notice, then yeah I might say F it this company sucks.

Too bad ak didn't do that. When adversity hit, instead of rising to the challenge he felt sorry for himself and stopped working hard.

There was plenty of debatable behavior on both sides of this equation, but the 99% of the issue was that AK was paid like a top 10 NBA player and was not. He simply didn't have a go-to skill at the elite-NBA level. As a result, the weight of his inequitable contract hampered him. There is no doubt he did not play to his full potential during that contract. There is also no doubt that he was not worth it in the first place. Imagine the love ALL of us would feel (even in spite of the full-back tattoo) if AK would have been paid 7m a year over that period rather than 17m.

I'm a firm believer in looking for the good in people, while trying to forgive the bad, and I think our players deserve the same consideration. A lot of the AK criticism is warranted, but at the same time, a lot of it is blown way the **** out of proportion. As for me, I will always remember AK for being a very unique player who can change the game on both ends of the floor. If he could stay healthy, there isn't team in the NBA that wouldn't want him on the roster. Ok, probably not for 10 million, but it's nice to see him get the respect, and see that Utah isn't the only team to value him a great deal.

I just hope he can stay healthy. If he can, I look forward to bumping this thread repeatedly.

What do you mean? His stats and production was the best on the team for two years after max contract. It was not AK who gave himself that contract, it was Jazz ( or late L.Miller ) who made him max player, called face of the franchise ( KOC during signing of the max contract day ) and after two years downgraded him to role player and minutes ( Sloan ). How you can rise to the challenge when you FG attempts and touches on offense drop in half, your minutes are cut and you run back and forth without touching the ball for 5-6 minutes? Lets agree to one thing, Jazz screwed up by giving him max contract and then never committed to it as such. They drastically reduced his role after Sloan resurrected his favorite PG to PF dominated offense. What haters tend to forget that it happened not right after max contract but during third year of it... first two years his stats where equal or some even better then prior. He was named to NBA all defensive team two years after max contract was signed.
So I will ask again, what AK was supposed to do when he was asked to clear space standing on perimeter for 90% of the plays DWill and Boozer run?

Do what he was asked and become a knock-down jump shooter so that the defense wouldn't just sag off of him and pack the paint?

I agree with this. But I do believe when AK left it was time for both the Jazz and AK to move on. I am happy for him that he got paid to come back to the NBA. I am astounded at how much he got though. Seems like a lot for him.

Well, this season will show us whether he's still worth that much money or not ... I'm betting on it that he will. It will be very satisfying to see all these losers on here eat their words.
