I think we are a helpful partner in any Kyrie or KD trade. I've thought what if we routed Bogey to LA with Kyrie so that Brooklyn can get both Lakers picks they can trade (that is the holdup right)... we could take Westbrook (maybe THT) to save them some money... Conley goes to Brooklyn sprinkle in another contract or two to make it all work. Ayton comes our way (then we'd maybe send JC to Phoenix?) we get Ayton for JC, Bogey, Conley (or Bev or Vandy in there) and we don't really touch any of our draft assets. Grease the wheels for all involved and work it that way... its a lot of salary so I haven't figured out exactly how it all works, but like there is stuff there... then all the pundits look back at it like the Jarret Allen trade to Cleveland and they are like "how the hell did the Jazz come out of that with Ayton again".Most likely outcome to me is that Mitchell is traded. If I had to bet, it would be Miami, but I would prefer it to be NYK with their picks and young players. I also think BKN is still very much in play despite Simmons/Mitchell rule complications. I think Conley ends up in BKN in the aftermath of a Kyrie trade.
I don't hate a barebones version of the Jazz with Mitchell and Ayton. If we end up with Ayton, we will get him at a value that is way less than what we could trade him for if things don't work and/or Mitchell demands out anyways. I think the motivation to get Ayton goes down if Mitchell is not playing, but I still think I'd trade for him if all it took was Bogey and a bad first or two.
We have all these good useful players on decent range of contract sizes and TPEs and such we can use to make it work. I would almost bet we are involved as a fourth or fifth team in some capacity even if it isn't that big.
